and bracelet makes three

beaded crystal bracelet

A lazy Saturday afternoon, and the house is all but silent. One asleep, two resting, one with Daddy doing stuff. I slip on my headphones, pull up the Google hangout app and settle in for a chat with a group of lovely ladies. With this hour or so carved out of our day just for me, I was determined to make the most of it. I needed something small and quiet to be working on, so I didn’t have to keep muting myself (for one, I wanted to keep chatting, for two, I’m a shocker for remembering to unmute myself. Yes, I am a certain kind of special). I spent a bit of time sorting out my BOM packets, and laying out a block to work on later that afternoon (which is still laid out on my desk untouched, but shhhh), with the intention of cutting out another block or two, but the pluggy-inny bit of my headphones wouldn’t reached all the way to my cutting table, so that scotched that plan. And then I remembered the bracelet that I wanted to make to match the necklace I blogged previously – I’ve already made the matching earrings that I blogged a couple of weeks ago over at And Sew We Craft. I pulled out my jars of beads and then realised I only had gold memory wire left. I hummed and hahhed a bit, then figured it was only the ends that would be visible, and thus not overly noticable, so I would just roll with it. It was so peaceful and enjoyable to sit and chat and fall into a delightful rhythm of picking and threading beads. It didn’t take long for it to come together, helped along by the fact I ended up deciding on a very simple 1.25 wrap size for my bracelet. With the open design of the necklace and earrings, I didn’t think a multi-wrap bracelet was a good fit. And I am really happy with how it turn out. Like the necklace and earrings previously, I have been wearing this so much – though a certain small Beetle Baby seems to thing it’s his personal play thing and thinks it’s hilarious to keep pulling it off and seeing how frustrated he can make mama.

Today I have some crafty plans with the girl involving some Fimo bits I made earlier in the week. I want to finally get around to the photos for The Ballet Bag of Awesome, if she’ll let me have the bag. The big boys are costuming today so I’m sure there’ll be an impromptu photo shoot to capture that cuteness. I want to try and make some solid progress on my cross stitch. Stories with the two little ones, baking, swings, dollies. In between all that I can hopefully tick off some stuff on the to-do list, but we’ll see. It’ll still be there tomorrow. Have a fabulous Thursday!

totallypinspiredsmallThe earrings are project number eleven (of fourteen required to date) in my “totally pinspired” challenge to turn my pins into projects – they were inspired by this tutorial that I pinned here. We are aiming to complete a minimum of two pins a month. For all my Totally Pinspired projects, click here. You can find my Pinterest boards here, and my completed pins board here. If you’ve been totally pinspired as well, I’d love to see what you’ve been making!

Welcome!

Hi! I'm Rachel. I love making things & experimenting with new techinques & mediums. I am addicted to pretty paper, and make & sell letterpress stationery. Being creative is my sanity break from the rush of life as a wife, and a mother of four. I do a lot of my creating without shoes. This is the story of where my bare feet & creative heart take me.
