Scrap happy…

Finally, a chance to try out my lovely Lime Tart kit! I have been itching to a) dive into this kit, and b) scrap this photo, but I’ve been a good girl, and worked towards finishing my WIP’s first. But now, the binding is on the Jacob’s Ladder quilt, and halfway hand sewn, and the changemat is awaiting a delivery of PUL (please visit this

Aprons, knitting and Mother In Laws

I am a bit behind in blogging, as we went to visit my mother in law over the weekend. I finished the apron as DH packed the car, so the photo is a bit dodgy:   I was reasonably happy with how it turned out. It was my first go at making my own pattern, and there are a few flaws in it that I

Thrift shopping

I popped into the Salvo’s op-shop on my way to the library this morning, and spent the huge amount of $5! I grabbed two vintage pillowcases, a bag of buttons, and two books, destined to be part of a collage. My haul:   the fabric:   I’m not 100% sure what these will become yet, I am thinking maybe a cute little apron? Hmmm… don’t

Pencil roll

One of Bear’s little friends has just turned two, and I was at a loss as to what to get him. He is one of these children that has everything. So when I saw some very cute pencil/texta/crayon rolls appearing on a few of the blogs I read, I figured I could kill two birds with one stone – a unique gift, plus the opportunity

Mummy Monday

What better way to front up to a new week than to hit the ground running? The housework was done early, stories had been read, hokey-pokey’s danced, and it was time to get busy! First up was some craft time. What else does one make with a train crazy toddler, but a train!   This little train was made from a nasal spray box, two eye

For my mum…

Remember way back to preschool, and for mother’s day or the like, you would stick macaroni to cardboard, spray paint it silver, and then, proud as punch, thinking you were the next Picasso, presented the finished product as a gift? And mum (or whoever the intended recipient was) would smile indulgently, and pretend that it was so great, it should be hanging in the Louvre?

Weekend progress

I’ve had a busy couple of days, and thought I might share a few sneak peeks of what I’ve been working on.   Firstly, the Jacob’s Ladder blocks are finished & all joined together. I’m not going to show the full quilt until I have borders on it, but here is a hint of the main part of the quilt.   And what oh what

31 weeks tomorrow

I can not believe how fast this pregnancy is going! Another nine weeks and we’ll (hopefully) have a new baby. I am bigger than I was last time, it took me til about 38 weeks to get this big!   On the craft front, I’ve been doing bits of sewing, only 8 blocks to go, which I am aiming to finish this week. I also

Another Drawing

Just a little sketch inspired by some bulbs I saw on the weekend. I tried the flowers white, like the ones I saw, but it was just too bland, so I went with the purple. I’m tempted to whip this up into a silk ribbon embroidery something or other, not sure yet!

Welcome!

Hi! I'm Rachel. I love making things & experimenting with new techinques & mediums. I am addicted to pretty paper, and make & sell letterpress stationery. Being creative is my sanity break from the rush of life as a wife, and a mother of four. I do a lot of my creating without shoes. This is the story of where my bare feet & creative heart take me.
