lol, I figured it out 🙂
Love the bird card, it really is a cute stamp.
I hope you reach a consesus on the painting. Part of me thinks that no matter how old you are, mums will always accept anything you make them with pride. But then, it could bug you everytime you walk in her house 🙂 FWIW, it’s a nice painting, good use of colour giving a really modern look.
LOL! Thanks for the comment on the painting. We ended up giving her both the painting & the backup present, and I think she liked it. Not raving over the moon liked it, but hanging it on the wall liked it, which is good enough for me!
Love the painting and the card, Do you know what? I think Mums will always like silver Macaroni! and soooo keen to see the quilt.looks great from what i can see. You are a very talented (and modest) lady!
Thanks! I don’t know if I’m that clever though, the connectors between the ‘engine’ & the ‘carriages’ keeps breaking! My task for today is to work out how to join them in a toddler proof way! LOL
What a lovely day you had. Mmmm, muffins, maybe I’ll make some later in the week, feeling inspired now. Anyway, I just popped in to check out that log cabin quilt you mentioned so I mustn’t get distracted by the talk of chocolate… yum, yum.
Tracey – they are super easy to make, maybe half an hour all up? I’m sure Kaitlyn will love one! My next one will be a hybrid to try & contain all of the toddler’s crayons, pencils & textas… Hmmm, yeah right!
One word – WOW!!!
I’ve been wanting to make a change mat / change roll for sometime (to suit cloth bums) but now you’ve upped the anty with this gorgeous creation 🙂 Very good!
Shannon, I very nearly ripped into the Clinker block, but managed to restrain mysef long enough to take a pic. By the time I’d uploaded the photo to the blog, it was gone *blush*
Vanilla, I’m very sorry to inspire cravings so late at night! Hopefully you can get out today & find some, it’s very yummy!
I’m wondering what the link is to the tutorial that you used to learn coptic binding? I’m wanting to learn myself but have had trouble finding information that shows me how to do the actual binding part itself (though I’ve found lots about materials and getting started!)
Also, how did you make the holes? there’s lots of talk of special tools needed, but I’m only just experimenting at this stage!
Thanks
I’m really loving all your little sketches and water colour. There are some really interesting, unique pictures. It’s a talent you should def keep exploring 🙂
Too cute! DH took James to the Boat Show in July, and came back with a boats safety stubby holder designed to look like a life-jacket (bright yellow, and cloing with one of those clip things). Two snips later, and it became a life jacket for Bec, his favourite toy. A phonecall to Nanny (who organises the Boat Show) and another was on its way for Ra; the other favourite toy – both animals were conveniently the right size. Unfortunately the black binding they had used rubbed-off, and both Bec and Ra have the marks remaining despite several washes!
Is there no end to your talents? We tried a collage today with glue and coloured paper… still trying to get over the ‘don’t eat it darling’ to actually make anything worthwhile showing off 😉
You are one busy lady! No one would believe you are doing all this with a newborn.
If it makes you feel any better I’m off to post my overseas parcels today as well… They’ll get there eventually even if they don’t quite make it in time for Christmas.
And a big Happy new Year to you! I hope you have a great year ahead of you – keep those paintings and drawings coming, I love seeing what you come up with.
Hello. My name is Cory Adkins. I am starting my hand at photography and would love for my sister to make me an infant cocoon like you have made. Do you happen to have a pattern? I love the one you made. Let me know if you can help. Thank you very much ahead of time.
Too busy drooling over the thought of Krispy Kremes to actually manage to work out what on earth this was supposed to be…
I only had to repeat “cwoh-o-diwl” about 4 times before it sunk in ~ great work once again!
Love the change mat, looks great, the one I made is way to bulky, I’ll have to have antother go I think.
Hope your boys feel better soon, B has a cold so I had a similar night to you Saturday night with her sleeping in 10 minute stretches and then waking up screaming, which ended up with my getting up at 4 to watch a film with her sleeping on me so that hubby could get a couple of hours sleep before his race Sunday morning. Last night she managed one three hour stretch so that was better!
I need a smiley that smacks me in the forehead… I’ve been reading your list of books and wondering why the heck you had been putting *** 1/2 on your list of books. Here I was assuming you’d only read HALF the books :O
Crawling back into my I am Stupid corner now… ROFL.
Sorry to hear I may have inadvertently cost you a new laptop… but hey look on the bright side ~ now you can twitter on one keyboard and blog, google & gather more inspiration on the other 😀
This is what all my previous attempts looked like 😉 I kept unravelling and starting over until I got the hang of it. I also found using two colours made it easier to start the new round 🙂
What a fantastic bag! Well done on designing it yourself, I’ve done very simple tote bags but I don’t think I could manage something like that. I love that star fabric, I think it’s the same one (from Spotlight?) that I used in a quilt I’m currently working on.
I love that autumn photo, I have been taking lots of photos of orange and gold and red leaves, I think autumn is my favourite month 🙂
That is so beautiful, I love the colours! I bet your sister would feel so comforted in her exam knowing that she had something with her made with such love and care 🙂
I suppose I can forgive you! How good is that book? Two minutes of reading and it “clicked” – and man was I doing wrong before! No wonder I couldn’t get a granny blanket to appear!
I love making playdough! I use the recipe for cooked playdough on the cream of tartar container, it lasts for ages. But my son find it so hard to resist the temptation of eating it every time 🙂
Ooh and the gingerbread scented playdough for Christmas time was lovely 🙂
That was the best post I’ve read today! Something I can imagine my own toddler doing, except our blue colouring is in a big bottle and lives on the very very top shelf of the cupboard!!!
Louise – I usually do the cooked verion too, but Mister Mister wanted to make it himself, so went the safe option. And yep, despite the salt, he eats it too! Not as much as he used to though – first day at playgroup there was glitter playdough… made for a very interesting nappy that afternoon!!
Car – he’s normally really good, just got a bit carried away I think. Luckily it was only one of those tiny “Queens” dropper bottles, and he had got the bowl out first. I shudder to think what could have happened (my lovely suede dining chairs come to mind…)
Your post bought back some fond memories of my two when they were toddlers – many an hour was spent happily with the playdough and a pile of cookie cutters. In fact, I think that is why my daughter (now 12 yrs) has such a strong interest in cooking. It is great that your little guy wanted to be so involved with the making. I love to experiement with colour too:)
Awesome quilt!
Your baby is about one now. Congratulations.
Question: Do you have a pattern for this quilt?? I’ve been searching for a Crazy Log Cabin quilt pattern and haven’t found one I like as well as this one.
OMG!!!!!!!! Such a lovely picture, just not sure about where it’s drawn. lol.
Harry did that to me 3 hours before a rental inspection 2 weeks ago. I went off my head at him. Luckily it managed to come off fairly easily. Hope yours came off too…
Well done! Isn’t it satisfying? I’m impressed that even in the 24 hours you managed to add a flange (and it was certainly worth it, it really adds to the quilt)!
Thanks Emma! The border originally was going to be just pink, but it was too plain. So I added the 1″ green, but still too plain. I think the flange set it off perfectly! (Though I cheated and only pressed the first piece – the rest were finger-pressed after I scorched my thumbs holding the 1″ strip in half!)
Thanks ladies! It was really quite simple, those large strips in the first photo were joined into one ultrawide strip, then cut down into row sized pieces. I did lots of batch sewing to be as efficient as possible! The longest part was stitching down the binding…
I can’t beleieve you managed to hand sew the binding too 😮 well done!!! I can do a quilt top in a day, but not the rest… although – I can feel it as a challenge for 2010!!!
Can you try a few patterns on a scrap sandwich before you start again to find something that works without needing to unpick if it doesn’t? The scrap sandwich only need be around A4 size though a bit bigger is better.
Glad to see you back we where wondering were you had disappered to. Congrats on the news of #3. Look forward to reading more blog post from you in the future.
Sounds wonderful – and very much like where we are at …. plans are in council and our fingers are crossed – my mind has moved onto the “fun” stuff too. Sounds like we will go through it together!
BTW, I also got a “I don’t do wall paper” – I really want something VERY glam in our WIR!
Oh my gosh, your notebook is lovely! I have been trying to find a way to make my own little journals. i am a total newbie to crafts of any sort. Did you just take “any old spiral bound notebook” and recover it with cardstock? Or did you bound it yourself? Thanks so much for any support you can offer! Lisa
Thanks for your kind comment! I just used a notebook I bought from the newsagent, and eased the covers off using the gap in the binding at the back. Once bound, I used a large scarpbooking holepunch (the kind you use with a hammer, for adding eyelets) to punch holes in the covering where they needed to be.
Oh no 🙁 just mend it and think of it as part of the story your special quilt has to tell. maybe oneday you will be telling your gransdchildren all aboutt why there is a little mended patch on the quilt they are playing on!
having a little giggle here… Thanks for the 10 easy steps 🙂 I will need something bigger than a small frame I think… Try a 4yo that has LONG hair and EVERYONE buys her hairclips, just you wait, one day bub will have lots of hair!
Oh Sweetie, you truly crack me up – Im just hoping that I get to see photos of young Clementine sleeping sweetly under the Dear Jane quilt at Quilt Camp far, far into the future (see I am seeing many years of Quilt camp in our future)
Beautifully written and I cannot beleive you are starting on the circle blocks – you are legend!
Beautiful afternoon! You, well you take some time to adjust to the new routine (Im 2 weeks in and STILL adjusting) then you relish in this gorgeous little person that you have successfully raised this beautiful little soul ready for their next step in the big world around them xxx (yes I am a wee bit nostalgic as I watch my baby girl grow and develop)
Awesome Idea! We have chore posters, but I think I like the idea of the cards better, something tangible that they can actually transfer once they have done it.
You have no idea how excited I am you are blogging again! I LOVE the way you write! When are you coming to Sydney??? Aren’t we having a mid year retreat????
Thanks Amy. Now he wants to make a quilt each for the two little ones. And Middle Boy wants to learn to sew too…my studio will never be just mine again!!
It looks great Rach! Miss Mahli has been doing some beading at kindy and has asked that we make some bracelets at home. Would love links to where you purchased your supplies. x
I’ll be making an apron as my first project with it. I also have a simple quilt pattern in mind. I think it’d look good even as just a quilt of squares. A child’s skirt? A bag? Pinterest is your friend!
Wouldn’t let me add Smashing Pumpkins – Tonight. I think someone else must be partial to it… my list is just what appeals to me right now, this second, right…this….moment. Looking forward to some tues TONIIIIIIIGHT…to….night…
Super fund… Well it may help toward the money we lost on the share market, lucky Im young and a long way from retirement (says she who retired last year 😉
I love painting – I’m rubbish, but I love it. Trying to bring an idea to life or transfer an image from memory to canvas, it’s wonderful. I’m glad you finally branched out!
Thanks for the encouragement. I’m pretty rubbish too, but in this case, it’s more about the process than the end result. I just love getting lost in the rhythm and as you say, watching that image take form and come to life!
Can’t wait…sounds like maybe you’re getting in touch with your Teen Spirit? I’ve got a couple of faves and a starting point for a youtube surf, planning to kick off around lunch time, and will be doing random youtube hops on the FB page throughout the day.
I haven’t forgotten to send you a picture of my necklace, seeing that bracelet makes me know even more that you will be able to make something perfect to match it. You are incredibly creative and deserve ever part of your recent success 🙂
Ohhhh! I am just about melting from all the goodness in these photos. Looks like the perfect amount of everything.
Especially love the shoes, the shopping list and that cutie on the phone!
xx
Thanks Shell. I do love my red shoes, they seem to make everyday brighter. The paint was lots of fun, my first full artwork in oils, and I’m addicted. I can’t wait until this piece gets to it’s new home and I can blog it. Thanks for stopping by!
We have just gotten over the lurgie! Seems to be a long drawn out one.. first your really tired, then you get the headaches then suddenly the snot arrives – over a period of about a week – my daughter, then my son, then my husband and now me had it!! Argh!
Oh! I saw mugrugs for the first time a few weeks ago on Etsy and I WANT! My mum gave me her old sewing machine a couple of months ago, but I don’t have the first clue how to use it (must get onto getting her to show me one day when she’s visiting). You’re is gorgeous!
I love this idea! Hve never heard of one before, but I can imagine it would be really useful! I want to make some for my kids now! Do you have a tutorial?
You cheeky little bugger! But I won’t take offence to your little QLD’er bashing. And I did watch the origin, Greg Ingliss was in no way cheating… And hey it was the refs call ;P
And your Mug Rug is lovely. I am sure your sister will love it!
Yay, hope to see you about over the weekend! I’m pretty relaxed about it, just a fun way to kick back, blog-style, for the weekend. And I love the idea of popping over to your blog for a virtual recovery party! (and yes, I love that version of Amazing Grace, I have it on high rotation!) xx
It’s freezing here! So much for Qld!
I love your day.
Nearly time to start dinner… and for the rabble to arrive home after the afternoon of appointments.
x
Thanks Grace! It’s been a hit with a lot of people, I’ve got another two to make for a friend! (oh, and I’m going to be greedy, that sunshine is all mine!!) x
I love your painting, gorgeous colours….. Hope you mange to find some time to create over the weekend.
I’m like you making today and tomorrow count, so I can make the most of the weekend.
Had to laugh about ‘not being posh enough to have an easel’ I have to say I have an easel which has been gather dust for some time now, BUT no one has ever commisioned me to do a painting so there you go, hehe…..
Thanks Claire! I’ve worded my mum up for a little table top easel for a birthday coming up, so maybe I’ll be posh sooner rather than later! I hope you have a productive couple of days and an awesome long weekend 🙂
What a CUTE bag!!
It is so wonderful when the little ones actually like the things that are made for them.
What is better is when they squeal because they’re so excited about it!!
You did good!
I Just wanted to let you know that I have nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award
If you’d like to accept this award then please take it to your blog and pass it on – if this is not your thing then please accept this as a compliment to your excellent blogging! https://littleredmonkey.wordpress.com/2012/06/09/versatile-blogger-award/
Rach – rach – rach – rach – rach. What more can i say other than thank you. You had me in tears reading and rehashing last year. And your feelings and emotions on it all.
I love it! (and for me, a quilt in 6 weeks would be pretty fab achievement!) Especially love the grey with the stars. Beautiful. I want to learn to quilt but I worry I would get addicted. I might have to take a class one of these days.
I actually haven’t heard a couple of these songs so thanks for posting them! Thanks also for joining in with Tuesday tune link up! I would love to share my last Tuesday Tune post at your party if I may. I can’t find the linky tool so I’ll just leave my link in my comment. Thanks for having me!
Thanks for joining! The linky thing works a bit funny with wordpress, so I’m trialling running the linkup just with comments. Looking forward to Tuesday Tune!
Very fun Rach! Something I’mn yet to conquer…I just tend to quilt in straight lines and haven’t even attempted stippling. It looks superb, and its no surprise that Elsa is a fan too!!
That’s gorgeous!! I loved that range so much that after buying a FQ of each print, I went back and bought half metres of each, lol! Still sitting in my stash awaiting the PERFECT project for it 😉
Glad to see that someone else makes use of children’s activity time to be creative. I’ve knitted, hand sewed, & crocheted during my boys t-ball training days & even games in the past. Keep it up.
I’m fast becoming the attraction of the mum’s area – what’s in the bag today! Beanie this week, quilt binding last week, crochet before that! It’s a good chance to do something little that doesn’t need too much concentration!
He’s reverted to eye rolling. Though no comment since he saw what I was doing with them, so maybe I have won him over by my sheer brilliance and creativity. HA. HA. HA.
Beautiful! I’m always so in awe of anyone who quilts! I had a try at it and it just wasn’t for me. My little lady (15mo) likes to hang around in my sewing room and sit on my lap to watch me sew, I just love having her around for sewing (mostly!).
Thanks for linking up to the Crafty Link Up!
This is an absolutely beautiful piece! Ive been saving it in my reader to read when I had a quiet moment to spare, sadly that quiet moment appears to be with the mermaids.
An Echino and corduroy bunny? YES! Love it. Your person on the lounge asking questions sounds very similar to the person on my lounge. I often get incredulous looks too. How can they not understand our creative genius? 😉
About half as good as they taste!! My adapted method isn’t quite as pretty as the cook book version, but they taste as good and are super quick with just the perfect amount, so I can live with slightly-less-than-pretty!
I probably shouldn’t tell you this but my fave “go to” for occasions like this is to make little parcels of puff pastry and fill them with choc bits and bake. Like a chocolate croissant and dead easy!!!
Ha ha, no worries, I completely understand – I’m ridiculously behind on my commenting too! He adores craft of any type, at the minute he’s determined to make the two little ones a quilt each for their birthdays!
Lovely writing! There’s a good deal of tension-building in a short space – a nice hook that draws the reader in. Great use of movement, allowing the reader to search for the address, remove the keys, walk up the path with her. Nice atmospheric entrance for the stranger…doesn’t sound like it bodes well for Jemima!
Well done! So glad you joined the Visual Dare. Thanks for participating!!
Well done Miss Dove. I think you’ve managed to capture a desolate scene perfectly, even my heart rate raced at the end when the voice echoed. I think it’s time you called yourself a writer 😉
I think your cake looks amazing and I am totally digging the “clown on an acid trip drew a sunflower on top” look! I may actually steal that idea… haha 🙂
A great story.
I loved the way you built it up so calmly and mysteriously and then hit us with – ‘She gasped in shock as she heard the deep voice echo around her. “I knew you’d come, Jemima”.’ Left me thinking this was not an encounter she was expecting or wanting.
Thanks Mike! Yes, very unexpected for her. I can see two paths forward, so I’m hoping to spend some more time with Jemima and expand out her story a bit, see where it takes me!
That looks awesome! I made a rainbow cake for my daughters 6th birthday but used Chocolate icing on top and it was soooo good!
Happy birthday to the lovely mystery lady.
I’ve always wondered how to make these waterproof and washable… how did I never think of PUL, hopefully I’ll have some scraps left over once I’ve backed my picnic quilt!
We made these a few weeks ago and they are awesome and great because they are so quick. We constantly stir the mixture as we fill the patty pans which does help.
Impressed! I have similar issues with toyroom and craft room – no matter what I do I cant get the toyroom sorted 🙁 would love to see wardrobe containers on said virtual tour – I might be needing an ikea trip in my very near future!!!
PS I loved your entry for this week. Very interesting take on it – you are very good at thinking outside the box! Mine wasn’t the best piece but I like how these are stretching the imagination – I’m usually quite stuck but this is making me think silly things like what is that thing on the bow called 😉 at weird times too!
Oh you have my heart.. Turkish delight is my all time fave flavour.. so Ill be racing to the shops to buy a block and making this tomorrow… Might have to keep 5 squares to taste test on the way – ingenious recipe! ; )
Woo!! Got my attention with this wonderfully crafted hook! I like how the MC is restless, always wandering, searches for rootedness – and then the “above” idea comes in the end with a bang, not just with the balloon, but with the 3rd person. Paul’s introduction makes me wonder, too, if it is a real person in the basket, or if Paul is visible only to Lauren.
Loved this! Thanks so much for taking up the Visual Dare!!
Love it! Looks 200% better than my childrens toy area at the moment. And I really really want to get the kids a Calamity Bolt horse! They are just so gorgeous.
wow thats a great idea!! We have an ikea 4×2 shelf in our daughters room/cupbard – using up space that was being wasted – now got all her books and special nick/nacks in
Thanks everyone! It’s been a BIG effort to get to this stage! @Yvette – I wanted an IKEA one, but our nearest IKEA is 5 hours away, so saving my sanity won out over pretty IKEA goodness!
This is so lovely. I really enjoyed reading this. The whole feel and tone went beautifully with the photo and I really felt pulled into the story. I agree with Jeff. A nice slice of life story – excellent!
Ah! Nice lead-in! Obviously a history with this Paul fellow. Nice use, too, of motion in cascading arrangement — the mad bustle of the first sentence, the slowing motion of the second, small directed action of the third, then internal, then writing. It all tapers toward those last two focal words so well. Great job!
Thanks Angela! I’m working on a bigger version of L&P for Camp NaNoWriMo, and just when I was feeling a bit lost, this dare was just what I needed to convince me not to trash it completely!
Wow. A wonderful story.
I loved the way your story flowed with the hustle and bustle and then the dumping of the heavy pack indicating she was slowing down. Then as she settled down time to ponder – should she, shouldn’t she. I wonder if Pau ever got that card.
Thanks for a great read.
WHAT DID SHE SAY??? WHAT DID SHE SAY??? (totally meant to write that twice, incase you think I am losing it, which I could be 😉
You are hooking me in with this story – the snippets are KILLING me.
Lovely fabrics – I particularly like the pink butterflies on the spotty grey. How scary for your mum. There must be some ideas for boyish fabrics bouncing around your head??
These are absolutely stunning!!! I love them ALL…as I was looking at them too many projects were popping into my head of wonderful things they would make. Great job!!!
Rhiannon at Being Mom{me}
Beautiful pics of an awesome weekend… Except the karma – didnt like that one iota! Mind my flight back was filled with awesome – awesome take off, awesome weather, awesome pilot and awesome landing. Then I lost my car 😉
HighSchool… I remember the violet femmes being played at every disco – my bestie (at the time) and I went off with that song. Much to everyone’s amusement!
Would you still love me if I admitted to a patch of The Doors??? In my defence I was hanging with a dubious crew, lovely people – but I was young and stupid.
Then there was the dance stuff… so much dance!
thats so cute, I have 5 kids and because of the age difference there have been very few hand me downs. Those came out so pretty. Nursing home doesn’t sound so bad, someone to cook for you while you craft all day 😛
Your little bits add up to quite a bit, Rachel! I haven’t had much time my Jan the Janome lately, litte bit here and there. I would love to be able to have some portable crafts available to my but my left hand has a mind of its own and cramps within five seconds of knitting or crochet!
Your use of language was well aligned with the scene of cascading clear water. It was lovely, Angela is right. Lovely and gentle…I really enjoyed this!
Gorgeous papers for your card making. It’s been so long since I did anything like that. Between quilting and blogging there is not a lot of spare time!
It looks like you had a great week, to me! The crochet at the top looks delicious (makes me want to start another blanket, though I have two in the works right now). And I love your little sketch of the happy springy flower.
Little bits and pieces – I can so relate at the moment, my crafting/sewing life is in limbo while I’m doing the musical and my sewing machine is sick- it feels weird to not complete anything!
Hi Megan, thanks for your kind words, and stopping by! I really enjoyed this little project, I think I need to explore chaining a bit more, it makes for a lovely effect!
Um so remind me not to fly LWD in the near future. Perhaps butterfly was mixed up and thought she was to pin the plane on the plane (love the canvas BTW!!!)
What a cool cake well done. I always do combined parties for my older two they are only 13mths apart. I have always made two cakes though. Mainly because we have a big family lol.
Their birthdays are really close, so I’ll do it as long as I can get away with. They get a cake on the day each, and one at the party – I fluked Bear’s birthday and party day on the same day this year!
I’m dreading the day I have to send my child to school, to share her with the world! Gorgeous cake, well done you. And happy birthday to your boy. He sounds like an angel. x
He is pretty special, and I do miss him terribly, but only three days and it’s holidays and I can pretend for two weeks I only have to share him with his brother and sister, and not the outside world.
Lots of fabulous creativity there…I am intrigued with your dinosaur buying??? I have been doing some similar purchasing for a project going on for us at the moment. x
I would probably draw a little first, maybe use the copics to colour in your zentange (yeah, I know that’s not the point) and you could try colouring some of your felting fluff before felting it… or maybe you could just go and bake a cake?
I like the idea of the Norden, however, there does not seem to be any indication of height? I am assuming that it is of table height? Personally, I would prefer something more bench height for cutting out in my sewing space. Whilst the extra cutting space is better than what you already have, I think $300 is a bit much to pay for something that is less than ideal. Also, if you put wheels on the bottom of it, wouldn’t the bits that you fold out to support the leaves of the table then be too short? Did your dad make your cupboard? Maybe you could get him to make you a cutting table too? I am sure he could make something pretty nice with $300…
THANK YOU! That’s perfect feedback. Even if it isn’t want I wanted to hear. No height given on the Norden, but it would be dining table height. And I went back and checked, and yes, you are right, the leaves are supported to the ground, ruling out castors. Oh daddy-o…
Yeah, I didn’t think yo would be very happy about that. What about something like this? http://www.horn.com.au/details.php?prodId=106&category=1&secondary=&keywords=
It is a similar size (about 15cm wider) and is height adjustable too, so you can use it for quilting if you need as well. I’m not sure how much they are though…
Fab, Macbeth is great, I think he and Cerise will get one well. The girls have been building a cardboard box city that I think she will enjoy too. Have fun with your ‘textas’. xxx
I’ve been calling him a doosh-hund, which I guess is kind of similar. You may have to forgive our poor Scottish accent, we may or may not have been FBUI when the doosh-hund emerged…
this feels like it is part of a larger piece. When I was reading it, I could tell that the scene is crystal clear in your mind. Mysterious and really set the mood well :)))
Thanks JoAnn. It was really hard to cull down, as you say, the image in my mind is so clear, I kept wanting add more, which is the polar opposite of what flash fiction is about! I’m glad it works though, thanks for your kind words!
These flash challenges are wonderful for practicing concentration of story elements. I have a terrible habit of wanting to race to the conclusion of a story but it doesn’t make for very interesting reading! Finally dawned on me I should add in some “pictures” to help the reader see what I saw so clearly in my head. You do that wonderfully already! You are 20 steps ahead! Always enjoy reading your pieces. :))
I know exactly how that feels haha sometimes you just can’t be bothered and sometimes you just need to do that! 😉 p.s that looks like a huge coffee…

So glad you found those blocks…It’s a great little quilt.
Admin
Thanks for taking the time to look and comment!
Helen
It looks lovely! A quilt finished in 6 days! Cool! 🙂
Emma
I love the idea of a bonus quilt! And it looks great. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your work!
Emma
I mourned the loss of my beater-licking days too!
Car
I love the look of that block, the quilt will look amazing when it’s finished – look forward to seeing the finished product 🙂
Judy
Beautiful!
The cookies and muffins from earlier posts look mouth-watering.
Emma
Lovely! Enjoy your artwork in your studio!
ToddleBits
These are adorable! I’ve got a ton of these toilet paper rolls looking for an occupation…Thanks!
Emma
Wow, what a beautiful, compact bump! As for crafting with 2 kids; the only way I get mine done is after the kids go to bed – from 9pm-2am I sew!
Admin
Thanks!
And 2am?! My word, you are more dedicated than I am! 2am is prime sleeping time. Hopefully for your sake, your littlies sleep longer than mine does.
Selina
Beautiful belly!
Belinda
Wow only 9 weeks to go.
What a cute and neat little bump.
Admin
Thanks girls! It’s amazing how quickly the time flies – the thought of 9 weeks is scaring me!
Ruth
lol, I figured it out 🙂
Love the bird card, it really is a cute stamp.
I hope you reach a consesus on the painting. Part of me thinks that no matter how old you are, mums will always accept anything you make them with pride. But then, it could bug you everytime you walk in her house 🙂 FWIW, it’s a nice painting, good use of colour giving a really modern look.
Admin
LOL! Thanks for the comment on the painting. We ended up giving her both the painting & the backup present, and I think she liked it. Not raving over the moon liked it, but hanging it on the wall liked it, which is good enough for me!
Shannon
I’m so jealous of your talents – is there anything you can’t do??
Wonderful painting and gorgeous stamp. I’ll bet she treasures it more than you’ll ever know. 🙂
Admin
Thank you so much Shannon! As for my “talents”, I’m more of the “fake it til you make it” school! LOL
Sharyn
Love the painting and the card, Do you know what? I think Mums will always like silver Macaroni! and soooo keen to see the quilt.looks great from what i can see. You are a very talented (and modest) lady!
Belinda
The Jacobs Ladder is looking gorgeous!
And I am such a fan of chocolate fabric, blue & choc can go for either boy or girl in my book.

I love that train. You, clever thing, you!
Admin
Thanks! I don’t know if I’m that clever though, the connectors between the ‘engine’ & the ‘carriages’ keeps breaking! My task for today is to work out how to join them in a toddler proof way! LOL
Tracey
You are so crafty….wish I could think of things like that to do with Kaitlyn. Mmmmm chocolate muffins – wanna come to my house and cook????? hehe
estherp
What a lovely day you had. Mmmm, muffins, maybe I’ll make some later in the week, feeling inspired now. Anyway, I just popped in to check out that log cabin quilt you mentioned so I mustn’t get distracted by the talk of chocolate… yum, yum.
Selina
Love it! Gorgeous fabric!

Tracey – they are super easy to make, maybe half an hour all up? I’m sure Kaitlyn will love one! My next one will be a hybrid to try & contain all of the toddler’s crayons, pencils & textas… Hmmm, yeah right!

Oh Clinkers….oh oh ohhhhh! Dammit, it’s 10pm on a Friday night…no clinkers for me!
I hope you & bub both enjoyed the choccies!

Skip, I need no further encouragement, trust me!
Car
Hee hee hee 😀
If it makes you feel better I bought another block on the weekend and it’s gone 🙁
Stay tuned, today I’m gonna blog about the cadbury’s pop rock chocolate ~ Yummo!!!
Car
Very nice! Now the big question, will you get it all quilted, sandwiched & bound before the newest addition arrives???
Emma
This post had me giggling all through it! You have a gift for nonsense 😉 I like the artwork, too!
Vanilla
What a purty picture! And a fabulous idea too! I think I’ll try this activity at playgroup this week since it’s my turn to run the art class!
If I don’t *speak* to you again – good luck for the birth of your beautiful baby! Can’t wait to hear!

Thanks
Car
Oooh – I love the simplicity of this one 🙂
Ruth
I’m loving all the little bits you are doing at the moment. The little tools are great – very cute 🙂 Hope bubs is doing well.
Selina
Beautiful
Shannon
Oh, you are so clever!
Ruth
I’m really loving all your little sketches and water colour. There are some really interesting, unique pictures. It’s a talent you should def keep exploring 🙂
Emma
Admin
Oh dear! Poor Ra & Bec!

How cool is that. I’m glad that Pooh is now “floaty”!

What a fantastic bag! Well done on designing it yourself, I’ve done very simple tote bags but I don’t think I could manage something like that. I love that star fabric, I think it’s the same one (from Spotlight?) that I used in a quilt I’m currently working on.

I love making playdough! I use the recipe for cooked playdough on the cream of tartar container, it lasts for ages. But my son find it so hard to resist the temptation of eating it every time 🙂
Ooh and the gingerbread scented playdough for Christmas time was lovely 🙂
Car
That was the best post I’ve read today! Something I can imagine my own toddler doing, except our blue colouring is in a big bottle and lives on the very very top shelf of the cupboard!!!
Admin
Louise – I usually do the cooked verion too, but Mister Mister wanted to make it himself, so went the safe option. And yep, despite the salt, he eats it too! Not as much as he used to though – first day at playgroup there was glitter playdough… made for a very interesting nappy that afternoon!!
Car – he’s normally really good, just got a bit carried away I think. Luckily it was only one of those tiny “Queens” dropper bottles, and he had got the bowl out first. I shudder to think what could have happened (my lovely suede dining chairs come to mind…)
Lisa
Your post bought back some fond memories of my two when they were toddlers – many an hour was spent happily with the playdough and a pile of cookie cutters. In fact, I think that is why my daughter (now 12 yrs) has such a strong interest in cooking. It is great that your little guy wanted to be so involved with the making. I love to experiement with colour too:)

Lots of of guys talk about this topic but you said really true words!
emma
Well done! Isn’t it satisfying? I’m impressed that even in the 24 hours you managed to add a flange (and it was certainly worth it, it really adds to the quilt)!
Admin
Thanks Emma! The border originally was going to be just pink, but it was too plain. So I added the 1″ green, but still too plain. I think the flange set it off perfectly! (Though I cheated and only pressed the first piece – the rest were finger-pressed after I scorched my thumbs holding the 1″ strip in half!)
Selina
That is pretty cool! Go you!
skipper
Ohhhh nice!!!
I love it! Beautiful colors!
1 Day to produce such a beautiful piece. Mate… only in my dreams.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks ladies! It was really quite simple, those large strips in the first photo were joined into one ultrawide strip, then cut down into row sized pieces. I did lots of batch sewing to be as efficient as possible! The longest part was stitching down the binding…
arlijohn
Wow, I’m impressed. Very clever and very pretty.

I happened across a link to a video of an easy way to unpick machine quilting the other day: http://ferfab.blogspot.com/2009/12/skinning-quilt.html
Good luck!
Can you try a few patterns on a scrap sandwich before you start again to find something that works without needing to unpick if it doesn’t? The scrap sandwich only need be around A4 size though a bit bigger is better.

Lisa
Admin
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your kind comment! I just used a notebook I bought from the newsagent, and eased the covers off using the gap in the binding at the back. Once bound, I used a large scarpbooking holepunch (the kind you use with a hammer, for adding eyelets) to punch holes in the covering where they needed to be.
Have fun!
Kayscha

I’ll be making an apron as my first project with it. I also have a simple quilt pattern in mind. I think it’d look good even as just a quilt of squares. A child’s skirt? A bag? Pinterest is your friend!
mareelouise
Found a cute pillowcase I want to make- the clouds will be sweet. Just bought the fabric!
LittleWhiteDove
Seriously, you bought my fabric? Oh wow, thank you so much!! I can’t wait to see your finished pillowcase 🙂
mareelouise
Hey, yeah, it looks really cute!
I think it will make a really cute little pillow set.
Amy @ MahliMoo
Wow, some questionable selections there! JoJo?? 😉
But I LOVE Train, so all is forgiven!
We have been playing Glee covers since yesterday. The kids have been loving it!
LittleWhiteDove
Hey! It was linked as I passed through Blue, and I was all, hey, that’s something I haven’t heard for a while. Glee is awesome!

Wouldn’t let me add Smashing Pumpkins – Tonight. I think someone else must be partial to it… my list is just what appeals to me right now, this second, right…this….moment. Looking forward to some tues TONIIIIIIIGHT…to….night…
LittleWhiteDove
That’s what mine is, randoms I found on a tune hop on YouTube. Glad to have you along to play!

I love painting – I’m rubbish, but I love it. Trying to bring an idea to life or transfer an image from memory to canvas, it’s wonderful. I’m glad you finally branched out!
LittleWhiteDove

Cute little girl, love those red shoes and the colour of that paint is yummy.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Shell. I do love my red shoes, they seem to make everyday brighter. The paint was lots of fun, my first full artwork in oils, and I’m addicted. I can’t wait until this piece gets to it’s new home and I can blog it. Thanks for stopping by!

Oh! I saw mugrugs for the first time a few weeks ago on Etsy and I WANT! My mum gave me her old sewing machine a couple of months ago, but I don’t have the first clue how to use it (must get onto getting her to show me one day when she’s visiting). You’re is gorgeous!
LittleWhiteDove
Aww, thanks!! Sing out if you need sewing advice 🙂
Janet Camilleri (@Footprintsmag)
I’ve never heard of a mug rug before but yours is gorgeous!!!!
LittleWhiteDove
Thank you!! It’s basically a quilted coaster big enough for a mug and a bikkie (or three 😉 )
Amy @ MahliMoo
I have to laugh at your hubby’s cheeky response. B has on more than one occasion called me an old Granny!
Love your doily!

LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Claire! I’ve worded my mum up for a little table top easel for a birthday coming up, so maybe I’ll be posh sooner rather than later! I hope you have a productive couple of days and an awesome long weekend 🙂

I love it! (and for me, a quilt in 6 weeks would be pretty fab achievement!) Especially love the grey with the stars. Beautiful. I want to learn to quilt but I worry I would get addicted. I might have to take a class one of these days.

Yvette @ DTlilsquirts
delicious!!
LittleWhiteDove
They sure were! It’s amazing how quickly the batch disappeared 😉
jess@diaryofasahm
How good does that look?
LittleWhiteDove
About half as good as they taste!! My adapted method isn’t quite as pretty as the cook book version, but they taste as good and are super quick with just the perfect amount, so I can live with slightly-less-than-pretty!
Janet Camilleri (@Footprintsmag)
I probably shouldn’t tell you this but my fave “go to” for occasions like this is to make little parcels of puff pastry and fill them with choc bits and bake. Like a chocolate croissant and dead easy!!!

Kelli - Twist of Citrus
I think you write very well, it’s a great opening paragraph 🙂
Angela Goff (@Angela_Goff)
Lovely writing! There’s a good deal of tension-building in a short space – a nice hook that draws the reader in. Great use of movement, allowing the reader to search for the address, remove the keys, walk up the path with her. Nice atmospheric entrance for the stranger…doesn’t sound like it bodes well for Jemima!
Well done! So glad you joined the Visual Dare. Thanks for participating!!

Awesome cake! I hope you didn’t trigger the smoke alarm with those sparklers the way we did a couple of weeks ago…
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Emma! And no, no smoke alarms were harmed in the consumption of this cake (possibly thought it was fortuitous that we were in the garage!)
Marion Benfield
So…my birthday’s in September…hint, hint…
LittleWhiteDove
He he, I’m sure we could organise something,..I promise to lay off the neon colouring!
Car
Well done Miss Dove. I think you’ve managed to capture a desolate scene perfectly, even my heart rate raced at the end when the voice echoed. I think it’s time you called yourself a writer 😉
LittleWhiteDove
Naw, thanks Miss Car! Not sure it feels finished, but 100 words is HARD!
Bec Clarke
It looks amazing, you are so very clever. I bet it went down like a treat.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Bec, yes, it was quite yummy, I was generous with the ganache 😉
Esther
Looks great, the colours came up so well 🙂
Kirsty
Looks fantastic, I love the icing on top 🙂
Denise
“clown cake” is beautiful…..and festive-looking 🙂 mmmmm
Ros
That is one brilliant looking cake!
Janet Camilleri (@Footprintsmag)
Well I think it looks amazing (and yummy) – well done you!
bubblybaker
I think your cake looks amazing and I am totally digging the “clown on an acid trip drew a sunflower on top” look! I may actually steal that idea… haha 🙂
Mike
A great story.
I loved the way you built it up so calmly and mysteriously and then hit us with – ‘She gasped in shock as she heard the deep voice echo around her. “I knew you’d come, Jemima”.’ Left me thinking this was not an encounter she was expecting or wanting.
Rachel from Redcliffe Style
What a gorgeous cake!! You are so clever. Rachel x
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Mike! Yes, very unexpected for her. I can see two paths forward, so I’m hoping to spend some more time with Jemima and expand out her story a bit, see where it takes me!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks girls!
Rosie Smith-Nazilli (@MrsNazilli)
That cries out to be something longer..xx
jess@diaryofasahm
That looks awesome! I made a rainbow cake for my daughters 6th birthday but used Chocolate icing on top and it was soooo good!
Happy birthday to the lovely mystery lady.
sjp
loved the imagery of the dust and the light
Esther
I’ve always wondered how to make these waterproof and washable… how did I never think of PUL, hopefully I’ll have some scraps left over once I’ve backed my picnic quilt!
Amy @ MahliMoo
I laughed out loud when I read your post of facebook about it being a clown on an acid trip cake.
You did a great job, Rach! It’s gorgeous.
Amy @ MahliMoo
Great job! You are a women of many talents 🙂
x
LittleWhiteDove
I’d offer to send you some, but there is more than one reason the insides are different colours 😉 x
Becky
We made these a few weeks ago and they are awesome and great because they are so quick. We constantly stir the mixture as we fill the patty pans which does help.
Amy @ MahliMoo
I wondered what you were up too. Great job!
We have the same storage issues here and no idea how I will fix them.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks! And top tip – cubes and tubs, Amy! And not expecting perfect. As long as I can see carpet, I’m happy!
kylie
Excellent! Looks brilliant. Although with that description of the toy room (black board, cube shelves…) I want pics of that too!
LittleWhiteDove
As soon as I have the rack and the canvases mounted I’ll do a virtual tour for you – maybe one day next week?
Amy @ MahliMoo
Great choices there, Rach! I’m trying to figure out how the Gambler fits in there though 😛
I am trying to right my post now, not sure what I will end up choosing though.
LittleWhiteDove
C’mon, it’s the ultimate singalong song!!
Amy @ MahliMoo
My post is here: http://www.mahlimoo.com/2012/07/get-your-groove-on.html
Janet Camilleri (@Footprintsmag)
I’m impressed with your DIY skills!
LittleWhiteDove
Why thank you! Truth be told, I am too! The handyman of the house is seeing all the faults, I’m just chuffed I did it all by myself!
Michelle Reynolds
Interesting week, been freezing over here in Perth.
nicole
what a fabulous looking week! and pretty jealous of that sunshine, my feet are currently iceblocks!
LittleWhiteDove
It didn’t last long, we are pretty ice blockish again now too!
Car
Impressed! I have similar issues with toyroom and craft room – no matter what I do I cant get the toyroom sorted 🙁 would love to see wardrobe containers on said virtual tour – I might be needing an ikea trip in my very near future!!!
LittleWhiteDove
Meatball time!! Tour coming soon.
Cas
oh where did you find that sunshine!! im sooooo jealous….
Car
Singlet in winter… Even on the hottest day up here you will find me in a light cardi or LS top 😉 frog that I am!!!
looks like a productive week 🙂
LittleWhiteDove
Soft Queenslander! It was seriously that hot, but then, our sundeck is an awesome little heat trap.
Car
I like how you’ve taken this a dream sequence, awesome ending!
Car
PS I loved your entry for this week. Very interesting take on it – you are very good at thinking outside the box! Mine wasn’t the best piece but I like how these are stretching the imagination – I’m usually quite stuck but this is making me think silly things like what is that thing on the bow called 😉 at weird times too!
LittleWhiteDove
Translation :: Miss Dove, you are one twisted sister! He he, toddling off for a read of yours now.
Cassandra
Awesome work! I need to start thinking storage ideas too.
LittleWhiteDove
Toy room storage is the holy grail I think!!
@workingwomenaus
Oh I’m a massive Turkish delight fan (so is Mr3). Once I’m finished on this low carb business (grrrr) I’ll give this a go.
LittleWhiteDove
Yeah, I don’t think this will fit in a low-carb program. Or low-fat, low-sugar, or low-anything really. High in decadence though!
happylan
Oh I agree! A stroke of genius!
yvettebowyer
what an interesting combination!!! I like the peppermint blocks.. wonder if that would work well…
LittleWhiteDove
That’s next on the list to try 😉
janehallisey
Oh you have my heart.. Turkish delight is my all time fave flavour.. so Ill be racing to the shops to buy a block and making this tomorrow… Might have to keep 5 squares to taste test on the way – ingenious recipe! ; )
lyndal
definitely winning…. and bonus points as there is no gluten in it so i don’t have to modify to make! YES!
Angela Goff (@Angela_Goff)
Jo-Anne Teal (@jtvancouver)
I agree, as I usually do, with Angela. :)) Nicely done, and I like the surprise appearance of a third person in the balloon!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks ladies! I’m hoping to expand on this flash during Camp NaNoWriMo.
Amy @ MahliMoo
Love it! Looks 200% better than my childrens toy area at the moment. And I really really want to get the kids a Calamity Bolt horse! They are just so gorgeous.
x
Trish MLDB
What a fun play space. Looks amazing.
Thanks for linking up
yvettebowyer
wow thats a great idea!! We have an ikea 4×2 shelf in our daughters room/cupbard – using up space that was being wasted – now got all her books and special nick/nacks in
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks everyone! It’s been a BIG effort to get to this stage! @Yvette – I wanted an IKEA one, but our nearest IKEA is 5 hours away, so saving my sanity won out over pretty IKEA goodness!
Jill Frank
ummm, apparently I am missing something. I have NO idea what Turkish delight is… Please enlighten.
afteroldjoe
Don’t worry. You write better than a lot of people who call themselves writers.
Amy @ MahliMoo
Definitely a stroke of genius there, Rach!
jess@diaryofasahm
Turkish delight is Boatmans favourite and I know he would love this! I see a special date night recipe coming up!
Angela Goff (@Angela_Goff)
Ahhhhhh so bittersweet and lovely. A breakup flashing gently back to an unpretentious beginning…..love it. Nicely done!! Thanks for participating!!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Angela! I’m not thrilled with the structure, it feels a bit confused, but it was a good exercise to work on developing these characters!
mydearbakes
Gosh, this looks marvellous ! I’m so loving it! =D
Car
Ok I swear I already commented on this piece… Love it and look forward to reading the backstory of these pair!
Car
I see toyroom floor, sadly thats one thing I havent seen in ours for a long time! Thanks for sharing, it looks AWESOME!
Car
Aaaahhhh!!! what happened next… How many days till next installment 😉
LittleWhiteDove
You KNOW what happened next, goose! They met again in a hot air balloon!
AJ
I’ve blogged mine Rachy!
LittleWhiteDove

Natasha Inoz
This is fabulous! You are so clever!

Best wishes and happy Sunday.

LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Natasha, I was pretty chuffed with it.

LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Shaz, feeling much better now!

Interesting week.
LittleWhiteDove
Sure was!

Andrea
I so relate to the last picture – struggling with the same thing right now.
LittleWhiteDove
Oh no! I hope you feel better soon!
Bec Clarke
It’s gorgeous
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Bec, I was happy with it 🙂
jtsuruoka
What a nice slice of life story you’ve got going here… Excellent.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks so much! A little slice from my current WIP.
K@DragonflyMumma

LittleWhiteDove

BossyMummy
That is too cute! Great idea
LittleWhiteDove
It was really quite simple – I don’t know why I put it off for so long 🙂
Knowledgable Kid
i like what you’ve done
aparentinglife
That is amazingly awesome, well done you
Jo-Anne Teal (@jtvancouver)
This is so lovely. I really enjoyed reading this. The whole feel and tone went beautifully with the photo and I really felt pulled into the story. I agree with Jeff. A nice slice of life story – excellent!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Jo-Anne! And looking at this weeks Visual Dare, it seems there’ll be another L&P story sooner rather than later!
jess@diaryofasahm
I have just made bailey a crocodile costume which was quite similar in design, and definitely in complexity!
This looks perfect!
LittleWhiteDove
The simpler the better, don’t you think?
B
Oh how cute! What a lovely gift! You must also have a lovely friend. Have fun with that!
LittleWhiteDove
I plan to! And yes, I guess she’s a bit of alright!
Annaleis @ Teapots and Tractors
I’d love a gift like that!
LittleWhiteDove
I’m not sharing, it’s mine, ALL MINE!!
Mum of Adult Kids
Umm… what exactly is it? *slaps forehead*
LittleWhiteDove
It’s a mini art kit 🙂
Car
You are more than welcome… And yes, yes I am a bit alright :p and a little crazy *mwah*
LittleWhiteDove

tam65Tamara
What a great gift. I love it.
LittleWhiteDove

LittleWhiteDove
I do too! Thanks for stopping by!
Becky from BeckyandJames.com
What a gorgeous gift!
LittleWhiteDove
Isn’t it? I’m very spoilt!
Grace
Oh, wow! That looks so awesome! And your gorgeous boy looks very happy with the outcome too 🙂
Angela Goff (@Angela_Goff)
Ah! Nice lead-in! Obviously a history with this Paul fellow. Nice use, too, of motion in cascading arrangement — the mad bustle of the first sentence, the slowing motion of the second, small directed action of the third, then internal, then writing. It all tapers toward those last two focal words so well. Great job!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Angela! I’m working on a bigger version of L&P for Camp NaNoWriMo, and just when I was feeling a bit lost, this dare was just what I needed to convince me not to trash it completely!
Writer Group
That was another fantastic post today. Thanks so much for sharing.
Trish MLDB
It’s a gorgeous little gift – have a lovely weekend.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks, you too!
Trish MLDB
My boys are exactly the same – so untidy and mess machines .I love the idea of jammie bags too
LittleWhiteDove
Oh, so glad to know it’s not just me!!
Mike
Wow. A wonderful story.
I loved the way your story flowed with the hustle and bustle and then the dumping of the heavy pack indicating she was slowing down. Then as she settled down time to ponder – should she, shouldn’t she. I wonder if Pau ever got that card.
Thanks for a great read.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Mike!
ann
this is an awesome idea and i will playalong next week for sure!!
LittleWhiteDove
Yay! Hope to see you then, or even this weekend if you manage to squeeze it in!
ann
linking up now!!

LittleWhiteDove

Lisa
This is so clever! I wish I was as creative as you!
LittleWhiteDove
Aww, thanks Lisa!
Mama Stylista
What a great idea! My bub is only 8 months so I’ve got all those joys to come.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks! Yep, all the things to look forward too!
Michelle Reynolds
Interesting week full of great pics.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks!
lorimoonstudio
I love your photos. So inviting. Thanks for sharing your week.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks, it was a pretty great week!
Laureny
Jammie bags – a great idea! One thing that won’t just get tossed onto the floor!
LittleWhiteDove
Well, you’d think so, wouldn’t you? 😉
Car
WHAT DID SHE SAY??? WHAT DID SHE SAY??? (totally meant to write that twice, incase you think I am losing it, which I could be 😉
You are hooking me in with this story – the snippets are KILLING me.
LittleWhiteDove
Bwah ha ha, my evil plot is working!!
Car
Awww Love Heath in 10 things I hate about you!
Remind me and I’ll try and schedule a boogie for Saturday night 😉
Car
Well it’s obvious they are MEANT to be TOGETHER!!!
Your writing is getting better Miss Dove! Don’t forget me when your rich and famous ‘kay?
Car
and by ‘getting better’ I mean improving in leaps and bounds 😉
LittleWhiteDove
Aww, thanks chicky!
Andrea
The sign of a tasty cake – an empty plate!
jtsuruoka
You’ve got the visuals down. The imagery is strong and clear and you make it easy to slip into your character’s skin.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks so much!
AJ
Just beautiful Rachy! And for a very good cause! So glad to hear your mum is doing well.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks AJ! Yes, we were blessed that they great team at the Wesley were on top of things and the treatment was swift and successful.
Julie-Ann
Lovely fabrics – I particularly like the pink butterflies on the spotty grey. How scary for your mum. There must be some ideas for boyish fabrics bouncing around your head??
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Julie-Ann! There are boys designs in mind, hours in the day and all that!
Sandra
If only it were that easy to forget someone… putting the phone face down. Nice one.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Sandra, this scene ties in with my previous L&P snippet, with the increasing distance between them.
yvettebowyer
gorgeous fabrics!!!! can not wait to get my sewing machine so i can buy gorgeous fabrics!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Yvette, I’m really happy with them!
jess@diaryofasahm
You designed these? How clever are you!
I’ll definitely be ordering some, once I decide what to make with them 🙂
Lillie McFerrin
Ah, this is so well done! Hope she writes the letter 🙂
happylan
I am loving orange right now.
AJ
Are you standing on your cutting mat….on the table?
LittleWhiteDove
Yes. And yes. It was bench Monday. I needed something sufficiently bench-like. (true, it does make more sense in the context of my other blog…)
Amy (@MahliMoo)
These a beautiful Rach! I will be ordering some from you soon!
A x
tam65

LittleWhiteDove
Thanks, the purple shoes make me smile
Amy (@MahliMoo)
Have fun Rach! Some great tunes you shared tonight!
I linked up and shared our wedding songs. I have been trying to remember them for weeks! I think I got them all right
LittleWhiteDove
Had an awesome IRL boogie! My wedding edition is coming soon, love yours!
Rhiannon
These are absolutely stunning!!! I love them ALL…as I was looking at them too many projects were popping into my head of wonderful things they would make. Great job!!!

Beautiful pics of an awesome weekend… Except the karma – didnt like that one iota! Mind my flight back was filled with awesome – awesome take off, awesome weather, awesome pilot and awesome landing. Then I lost my car 😉
LittleWhiteDove
Uh oh. Been hanging around Bee too long?
{tinniegirl}
How great is the pram zone!
OnePerfectDay
Sounds like fun!
Love that crochet (blanket?). The coloures are wonderful!
skalabara
Really great hues of orange, good luck with piecing!!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks! Slowly making my way through it 🙂
Crave Cute
Of course I love Prince! Since he’s a native Minnesotan, I have to stick with him! The Purple One is still Awesome! Great tunes!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks for stopping by!
Meg
I LOVE this. Any plan to throw in like…. one blue patch? 😀 xox
LittleWhiteDove
Ha ha, you are evil!
Amy @ MahliMoo
Love the colour! I am sure Boy2 will love it.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Amy, he’s very excited… Though Bear is already requesting one in green!
Car
HighSchool… I remember the violet femmes being played at every disco – my bestie (at the time) and I went off with that song. Much to everyone’s amusement!
Would you still love me if I admitted to a patch of The Doors??? In my defence I was hanging with a dubious crew, lovely people – but I was young and stupid.
Then there was the dance stuff… so much dance!
LittleWhiteDove
Violent Femmes? The Doors? Old fart 😉
Car
Still jealous over those shoes… mine still haven’t grown yet ~ I live in hope xxx
LittleWhiteDove
Oh no 🙁 grow shoes, grow!!
Car
I thought you’d be saying Don’t Grow!!! They will be winging your way if they don’t behave themselves and start growing!!! 😉
LittleWhiteDove
I’m not that mean!
Serena
Lovely pics….love those shoes! I’m currently working on a ripple design blanket too. 🙂
LittleWhiteDove
I’m loving the shoes too! Off to stalk your blog in search off ripple photos!
Bron
Great pics! I love the orange fabrics =)
Mel
thats so cute, I have 5 kids and because of the age difference there have been very few hand me downs. Those came out so pretty. Nursing home doesn’t sound so bad, someone to cook for you while you craft all day 😛
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Mel! It doesn’t sound too bad at all really, does it?
Karen
Wow!! this is such a wonderfully amazing idea……I want a pair for me!!! Love the photos too 🙂
Janette
Great idea! Looks gorgeous!
Alyce {Blossom Heart Quilts}
Aw, so cute!! What a fabulous idea!
Carmel
That’s really cute 🙂 I appliquéd over the knees of a pair of Noah’s old jeans for Amélie.
Paula - Buenos Aires
Fun fabrics, cute knitting and awesome shoes!
Karen
Your “just a little bits” have some gorgeous colour combos Rachel. Some times it is nice to accept that we can only do what we can do <3
Amy @ MahliMoo
Your little bits add up to quite a bit, Rachel! I haven’t had much time my Jan the Janome lately, litte bit here and there. I would love to be able to have some portable crafts available to my but my left hand has a mind of its own and cramps within five seconds of knitting or crochet!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks girls! I’ve resigned myself to having no large progress posts anytime soon, but as long as I can squeeze in something here or there, I’m happy!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks girls! She’s pretty chuffed, and I don’t need to buy new jeans, so counts as a win for me!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks for stopping by!
LittleWhiteDove
Cool, hey?
Janet Camilleri (@Footprintsmag)
I’ve been adding a bit to the blankie I’m crocheting … and I wrote two blog posts this week … does that count?!
LittleWhiteDove
It’s something! And something is better than nothing. 🙂
Meg
All those little bits add up in the end though, no? xox
LittleWhiteDove
That they do! And its enough. In time, life will slow, I will start breathing again, and the creating will fit again.
Bec Clarke
Oh that’s beautiful well done.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Bec xx

Your use of language was well aligned with the scene of cascading clear water. It was lovely, Angela is right. Lovely and gentle…I really enjoyed this!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Jo-Anne!
jess@diaryofasahm
Gorgeous papers for your card making. It’s been so long since I did anything like that. Between quilting and blogging there is not a lot of spare time!

Best part is it’s long enough to drape over my toes now while I’m ripping! Can’t wait to snuggle under the finished blanket!

Thanks so much!

It looks like you had a great week, to me! The crochet at the top looks delicious (makes me want to start another blanket, though I have two in the works right now). And I love your little sketch of the happy springy flower.

Is there such thing as too many crochet blankets? I think I need to swing by your blog and check out some photos!

mmmmmm looks great, glad to hear that it was 9.5/10 for taste 🙂

’twas very yummy!

Little bits and pieces – I can so relate at the moment, my crafting/sewing life is in limbo while I’m doing the musical and my sewing machine is sick- it feels weird to not complete anything!
LittleWhiteDove
But being in a musical is still being creative!
ann
love them all!!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Ann!

hey are those new?? Bahahahahahahaha, busted indeed!
PS I wont disown you… see blogpost for today, asking for extension 😉

This bracelet turned out lovely though, I really like how you’ve used multiple jump ring to join the links together. Very classy.
LittleWhiteDove
Hi Megan, thanks for your kind words, and stopping by! I really enjoyed this little project, I think I need to explore chaining a bit more, it makes for a lovely effect!

jess@diaryofasahm
Oh look at all your craftiness! Some gorgeous fabric there. What are you making?
LittleWhiteDove
The first lot of fabric is for a skirt for me, and the orange fabric is for a quilt for my littler boy 🙂
~ Car ~
Great busy week there! did you follow a pattern for your skirt?
LittleWhiteDove
Nope. Just winging it based on the tillytom twirly skirt.
Tina Gray (@tinagraydotme)
Beautiful! Thanks for blog hopping with me 🙂

Salz Dummy Spit
What a cool cake well done. I always do combined parties for my older two they are only 13mths apart. I have always made two cakes though. Mainly because we have a big family lol.
LittleWhiteDove
Their birthdays are really close, so I’ll do it as long as I can get away with. They get a cake on the day each, and one at the party – I fluked Bear’s birthday and party day on the same day this year!
BossyMummy
Great cake – love Buddy eating through the side – combines perfectly for me 🙂 Happy birthday to them both!
Hello from #teamIBOT!
LittleWhiteDove
You worked out it was Buddy!!! #validated
Kyla

LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Kyla!

Looks like you had a very productive week! Love the little bluebird bracelet 🙂
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks, I love it too!
Zanni Arnot
I’m dreading the day I have to send my child to school, to share her with the world! Gorgeous cake, well done you. And happy birthday to your boy. He sounds like an angel. x
LittleWhiteDove
He is pretty special, and I do miss him terribly, but only three days and it’s holidays and I can pretend for two weeks I only have to share him with his brother and sister, and not the outside world.
jess@diaryofasahm
That is an awesome cake!
There is something about turning 6 that makes them seem so much older. 🙁
LittleWhiteDove
Suddenly overnight, he’s turned from small boy to big boy 🙁
ann
Love it!!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Ann!
beebeejaybee
happy birthday Bear
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Bee! xx
Bron
Lots of fabulous creativity there…I am intrigued with your dinosaur buying??? I have been doing some similar purchasing for a project going on for us at the moment. x
LittleWhiteDove
I cleared out Big W’s dinosaur stock for party bags for the hoard that descended on Saturday 🙂
beebeejaybee
mmmmm chocolate pretzels, almost in line with cheesecake
LittleWhiteDove
So you’ll love me super dooper forever if I bring both chocolate pretzels and custard cheesecake chocolates to camp?
Alissa
Best food ever! Will have to try and make my own too.
LittleWhiteDove
Totally the shizz.
~ Car ~
So shes a party girl and hes boring water boy? I like water bringers… Especially in the morning, with a straw 😉
LittleWhiteDove
He’s being a gentleman! It would make more sense with the rest of the scene. #mustwritenow
Amy (@MahliMoo)
The Copics! They look fab.
Happy crafting, Rach x
LittleWhiteDove
Went with felting, but it’s Copic time now!
Esther
I would probably draw a little first, maybe use the copics to colour in your zentange (yeah, I know that’s not the point) and you could try colouring some of your felting fluff before felting it… or maybe you could just go and bake a cake?
LittleWhiteDove
I’m seeing an overwhelming Copic theme in your suggestions…
Car
Welcome to the darkside… Feels weird to actually be in front of the trend 😉
LittleWhiteDove
I’m planning on kicking off the bobbin lacework trend, consider yourself warned 😉
Carmel
I like the idea of the Norden, however, there does not seem to be any indication of height? I am assuming that it is of table height? Personally, I would prefer something more bench height for cutting out in my sewing space. Whilst the extra cutting space is better than what you already have, I think $300 is a bit much to pay for something that is less than ideal. Also, if you put wheels on the bottom of it, wouldn’t the bits that you fold out to support the leaves of the table then be too short? Did your dad make your cupboard? Maybe you could get him to make you a cutting table too? I am sure he could make something pretty nice with $300…
LittleWhiteDove
THANK YOU! That’s perfect feedback. Even if it isn’t want I wanted to hear. No height given on the Norden, but it would be dining table height. And I went back and checked, and yes, you are right, the leaves are supported to the ground, ruling out castors. Oh daddy-o…
Tina Gray
Beautiful photos! Thanks for linking up x

LittleWhiteDove
Thanks!

Smarties!!! Yum! Left overs from the dinosaur cake? 🙂
Popping by from Tina’s blog hop!
LittleWhiteDove
Well, I couldn’t let them go to waste!!
Carmel
Yeah, I didn’t think yo would be very happy about that. What about something like this? http://www.horn.com.au/details.php?prodId=106&category=1&secondary=&keywords=
It is a similar size (about 15cm wider) and is height adjustable too, so you can use it for quilting if you need as well. I’m not sure how much they are though…
Carmel
With it being height adjustable, your hubby might be able to share it with you too?
LittleWhiteDove
Might do a hunt for prices, thanks for the link x
Shaz@Alshas
Interesting Snippets!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks for popping by!
Salz Dummy Spit
Nice cake. Are you planting something?
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks! Yes, getting some pretty flowers into the cottage garden for spring, it’s looking so bright and cheery now!
Serena
Nice assortment of pics…the cake looks delicious!
LittleWhiteDove
It sure was! It’s an orange cake, made with a heap of orange juice, so even today it is beautifully moist mmmm caaaakkkee…..
Esther
Fab, Macbeth is great, I think he and Cerise will get one well. The girls have been building a cardboard box city that I think she will enjoy too. Have fun with your ‘textas’. xxx
LittleWhiteDove
Sounds like Cerise is having a grand old time!
Amy (@MahliMoo)
Shouldn’t he be a doosh hoond, with the exaggeration on the o’s. That’s how my grandparents would say it.
As I said last week your Copics look like fun x
LittleWhiteDove
I’ve been calling him a doosh-hund, which I guess is kind of similar. You may have to forgive our poor Scottish accent, we may or may not have been FBUI when the doosh-hund emerged…
~ Car ~
Ooh pretty textas! I STILL Havent played with my newbies yet!!!
And for the record… You forgot the dash!!! remember its doosh-hound! and Its funny I managed to remember this after all that beer LOL!!!
LittleWhiteDove
*snigger* forgetting the dash in the Dachshund *snort*
The Aussie Hausfrau
Great pics! The cake looks yummy!!
Visiting from the Blog Hop! 🙂
Trent Lewin
Oh very nice. I like the photo but like the writing more.
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Trent! It’s a very intriguing image, isn’t it? I love seeing what Angela finds in her travels to spark off a new adventure in words.
Jane @ Me 'N my Monkeys
Great shots!
That last pic is certainly an interesting one. 🙂
LittleWhiteDove
Ha ha, had a few comments on that! It’s needle felting.
Bron
OOOh some similar things in our house too…lego, gardens and eating cake from bunny plates…have a lovely week. x
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Bron, you have a great week too! x
Laura Jamez (@LEJamez)
Ok this is creepy, love it!
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks Laura!
Mumabulous
Ha – love your choice of literature. Hope you enjoyed your morning.
Love Mumabulous
LittleWhiteDove
It has been a delightful kind of day, even if I have to keep putting my book down every half a page or so! Lucky I’ve read it once or twice before 😉
Jo-Anne Teal
this feels like it is part of a larger piece. When I was reading it, I could tell that the scene is crystal clear in your mind. Mysterious and really set the mood well :)))
LittleWhiteDove
Thanks JoAnn. It was really hard to cull down, as you say, the image in my mind is so clear, I kept wanting add more, which is the polar opposite of what flash fiction is about! I’m glad it works though, thanks for your kind words!
Jo-Anne Teal
These flash challenges are wonderful for practicing concentration of story elements. I have a terrible habit of wanting to race to the conclusion of a story but it doesn’t make for very interesting reading! Finally dawned on me I should add in some “pictures” to help the reader see what I saw so clearly in my head. You do that wonderfully already! You are 20 steps ahead! Always enjoy reading your pieces. :))
LittleWhiteDove
*blush* you are too kind *mwah*
K@DragonflyMumma
I know exactly how that feels haha sometimes you just can’t be bothered and sometimes you just need to do that! 😉 p.s that looks like a huge coffee…
-IBOT
LittleWhiteDove
A trick of the camera, it’s much closer than the rest of the item in the shot. But sometimes a huge coffee would be nice!
