in the mailbox {january/february}

On the last Friday of the month, I thought it might be fun to show what goodies have passed through my studio over the month just gone (though I’ve included January in this month’s as well). I love seeing “Stash Sunday” posts and the like that pop up, so this is my take on it. 1 – a truckload of […]

one little page

I’ve blogged before about my One Little Word for 2014 – “make”. So far this year, I’ve found it to be a good fit for me. Something I’ve been wanting to do more of this year, is art journalling, but in between soaking up time with my little people over the holidays, and the rush of back to school, my […]

a rush of a quilt

I must admit, I’m not stranger to flashes of inspiration followed by bursts of insane productivity resulting in a final outcome within a short space of time from the initial idea. One such flash hit me in January, when I decided one Sunday night that I would make a quilt for our neighbour who was due to move away. On […]

{back to school} headphone case

Sometimes, the back-to-school list is easy. Pop by the office shop, grab some whiteboard markers and gluesticks, throw an extra box of tissues in the groceries, and an old shirt for painting. Done deal. This year though, came an addition. Headphones. Bear is moving up through the grades (don’t remind me. Didn’t he only start kindergarten yesterday?), and with it […]

a girly kind of day.

As the baby sleeps, the noise that passes for the soundtrack of my life shifts. A lazy Thursday afternoon, and it’s still an hour until pick up. Just the girl and I, pottering about. It’s a new kind of normal, this almost-quiet that surrounds me. She waltzes by, lost in the music of her mind as she dances, and she […]

This Week

Our second full week of term and I feel like I have things under control, and even managed some crafting. Beading with Butterfly, sewing for the Ballet Bag of Awesome, crocheting a headband/earwarmer. Possibly ordering some supplies for a new project. A good week. A balanced week. Let’s see if we can make it last.

box it up

With a birthday coming up for a special someone who no longer lives near me, I have had half a mind on gift ideas, something cute and fun and a bit different. I was browsing Pinterest (surprised? No, I wasn’t either) a week or two back, when I came across this most fabulous idea and straight away pinned it to […]

teacher mug rugs

One each for the two main teachers Bear had last year, one each for the two release teachers, and one for the teachers aide. Five gifts to make. Not too onerous, you wouldn’t think. Except end of year hit me hard, and I found myself cutting it fine. How fine? See that ridiculously dodgy phone pic at the bottom, with […]

just keep rolling

Holidays mean lots of baking, because lots of little people need lots of food. One new thing we tried was this honey cream swiss roll. I won’t show you a photo of the top, it got cracked pretty badly (any tips on how to not crack a swiss roll?), but it tasted the part. I had to improvise a bit […]
