on the cards :: September

Three quarters of the year down, and I am rather impressed with myself that I’ve managed to keep up with my card a day project. It’s interesting to look back and see how it’s changed since my very first monthly update, and the things that I included at the beginning that I have forgotten about when I’m scrambling for ideas on days I’ve missed or nothing exciting happened.

If there was ever a month I was going to fail, it would have been September. Not only did we have three birthdays, father’s day, and a wedding anniversary, but we had a trip to Sydney for uni open day, and another round of sickness. Add in all the other stuff that happens in day to day life, and it was rather busy! I did fall behind a time or two, but managed to catch up by the end of the month to be completely up to date as of yesterday.

This month’s highlights on page one include digging out our wedding papers and cutting our monogram on my Cricut (where was this toy in 2004 when I was making all my wedding stationery and collateral??), the card cover of the uni map, a print of my great grandmothers recipe I used for Bear’s 18th birthday cake.

Page two was where the real action happened – offcuts from the cake topper and the wrapping, my boy’s 18th birthday portrait, he went from red P’s to green, then Boy2 passed his learners test, had a birthday, and picked up his L plates. In amongst all that there was project inclusions like quilt scraps and journal binding where I added the link stitch to the card, and sketchbook revival paper towel scraps, and dead film pulled from my TLR camera.

It’s a super fun month to look back on, and with October shaping up to be almost as busy, I can’t wait to see what the next 31 cards look like!
