Mummy Monday

What better way to front up to a new week than to hit the ground running? The housework was done early, stories had been read, hokey-pokey’s danced, and it was time to get busy! First up was some craft time. What else does one make with a train crazy toddler, but a train!   This little train was made from a […]

For my mum…

Remember way back to preschool, and for mother’s day or the like, you would stick macaroni to cardboard, spray paint it silver, and then, proud as punch, thinking you were the next Picasso, presented the finished product as a gift? And mum (or whoever the intended recipient was) would smile indulgently, and pretend that it was so great, it should […]

Weekend progress

I’ve had a busy couple of days, and thought I might share a few sneak peeks of what I’ve been working on.   Firstly, the Jacob’s Ladder blocks are finished & all joined together. I’m not going to show the full quilt until I have borders on it, but here is a hint of the main part of the quilt. […]

31 weeks tomorrow

I can not believe how fast this pregnancy is going! Another nine weeks and we’ll (hopefully) have a new baby. I am bigger than I was last time, it took me til about 38 weeks to get this big!   On the craft front, I’ve been doing bits of sewing, only 8 blocks to go, which I am aiming to […]

Another Drawing

Just a little sketch inspired by some bulbs I saw on the weekend. I tried the flowers white, like the ones I saw, but it was just too bland, so I went with the purple. I’m tempted to whip this up into a silk ribbon embroidery something or other, not sure yet!

Pizza Mail!

Oooo, I do love it when my postie comes to visit! The delightful build up of anticipation over the previous couple of days, jumping every time I hear a knock at the door, the delicious sound of a craft knife slicing through packing tape, the thrill of seeing the contents of the package for the first time… I love parcels! […]

Padded Pinboard

With various weekly going-ons, we were accumulating quite a pile of stunning artworks, courtesy of Picasso the toddler. But what to do with them? Mummy-guilt prevented me from filing all of them in the round container in the corner, but our fridge isn’t magnetic, so that wasn’t an option either. So yesterday, during nap time, I made a padded pinboard […]

Finally…

Something other than toddler craft! I have “finished” a series of small canvases to grace the walls of my studio. I say “finished” in the sense that they are are done for now, but I’m still not sure if they need something else or not, so I’ll see how I feel after they have been up a while. The series […]

Who needs plastic?

I awoke to the wonderful sound of rain, tapping a constant stattaco on the roof above. The sky was grey, puddles formed on the lawn wherever they could. I lay in bed, listening to this wonderful, rare sound, thankful it had arrived, and wondering if it was falling in all the right places.   The previous night, I had lain […]

More toddler craft

Today’s effort was a “pram” for Pooh Bear:   Made from a 3-litre milk container, the boy thinks this is just fantastic, and loves taking Pooh for walks. It took about 3 minutes to make, and has provided at least 30 minutes of entertainment. And if he’s sick of it tomorrow, it can go back in the recycling bin from […]
