25 in 25 :: quarter one update
At the start of the year, inspired by a friend, I wrote out a list of twenty five things I wanted to achieve this year. With a full quarter of the year behind us, I thought it was a good time to check in and see how I was progressing, and what I need to change.

1. Walk at least 7km a week – FAIL SO FAR. I’m hoping to improve over the next quarter, I still would like to make regular walks part of my routine.
2. Close my watch rings every day – EVEN MORE OF A FAIL, I think my watch has spent more time flat than charged this year to be honest!
3. Take a class in something new – still looking for something that piques my interest.
4. Enter 5+ things in the show done! Only just scraped through, but something is better than nothing.
5. Empty both WIP boxes – I’m planning to do a stocktake this week of my “current projects” box to start picking away at it. I had hoped to finish two things in April, so I’m hoping there’s a couple of easy things in there!
6. Finally sort the container – this is on my May agenda now it’s cooled down!
7. Find a new Sydney “base”/comfort zone we loved Zetland when we moved the boy to uni, so that’s likely to be where we’ll park ourselves from now on!
8. Cunnamulla with friends – trying to find a weekend!
9. Kingfisher Bay for a week – still to be scheduled; maybe in the spring?
10. Sell the camper – in progress, I am booking it in for repairs this week
11. Sort the vineyard – first round of fence repairs and tie ups done. Now just waiting for winter to do major works
12. Brine olives successfully – batch one are bottled, batch two are soaking, I’m hoping to get out and collect batch three today. Let’s call this one done!
13. Make jam/preserves at least three times – the blackberries for jam got pinched by the teen, but I did manage to freeze some, and I also made, stored + used some of our glut of tomatoes in a roast tomato passata, so maybe 50% complete? We’re hoping to net our trees early enough to save fruit from the birds so this will now be a spring item.
14. Do one thing that scares the crap out of me – who even knows? I’m sure something will present itself!
15. Finish my novel – it was supposed to be this months job to write daily, and I’ve gotten slack, so I’ll add it to my to-doist for May to make some decent progress.
16. Read 100 books – 17/100 read! Not a bad tally, but not enough if I want to hit 100. Luckily we’re going on holidays soon so that should help me knock over some more on my way to the century.
17. Finish one thing a month – journal in January, quilt in February, inchie challenge in March, a ball of drop spun yarn in April – on track!
18. Plant & nurture a flower garden – beds are prepped and mulched ready for planting! Winter job is to choose what I want in there.
19. Try to get 200 YT subs – progress! I started at 134 at the beginning of the year, and as of writing this post, I’m sitting at 176 and on track to hit this one early!
20. Visit somewhere new – I went to Crescent Head for the first time with my high school friends, so I’m going to call this one done.
21. Use something from every craft box at least once – oooo ok let’s take a quick look along the shelves! I think I’m at about 50/50? Top shelf I’ve used habby, beading and needlework. That’s a 50% rate. Middle shelf I’ve used fibre, and cricut, yarn tools, current journals, and stencils, leaving only specialty paper, scrapbook paper, and yardstick untouched. From under my desk, I’ve used something for each little plastic drawer, both the fabric drawers, and the yarn basket. I’ve also used some latch hook wool from the general crafts box! Not a bad effort for a list item I haven’t been super intentional about.
22. Bake every week – a bit hit and miss, mostly because Miss14 in particular loves baking at the minute so the cupboard is always full and I don’t want her stuff to go to waste.
23. Take one edX course a quarter – my first quarter class has been chosen but unfinished. I’m aiming to make progress on it this month and then pick something to finish before the end of June.
24. Grow my stock photo portfolio by 10 photos a month – failed this one! I’ll try for 15 a month the next six months to make up for it and still hit 120 photos by the end of the year
25. Create at least one digital product a month – also a fail, and I will try and catch up.
Four items out of 25 crossed off, and a solid half of the rest well underway. Not bad really! A couple I will need to pick up the pace a bit, but nothing I can’t catch up on. How are you going with your 2025 goals?
