…blogtober 2022…

Much like blogging itself, the once popular Blogtoberfest has fallen by the wayside in the shift to instagram based microblogging. And yet, every year, I still find myself drawn to the familiar rhythm of daily blogging that is Blogtober. It takes me back to what feels like the “good old days” of blogging, somewhere in the depths of 2012, a full decade ago. A time when daily blogging was part of a wider network of regular connection – Facebook groups with daily threads, side chats in messenger, blog comment threads, sewalongs, blogalongs, stitchalongs.

Somewhere along the way, I feel like I’ve lost my blogging voice. I read over those old posts, and I could be reading the words of a completely different person. I guess if I’m being honest, I probably am. A decade is a long time even in real life. In internet terms, it’s an eternity. In life, and in projects, I’ve grown and changed so much, and in turn, so too has the way I interact with this space. Blogtober has, over the last couple of year especially, become an exercise in bloggy playfulness. Sharing posts about projects, posts about life, posts about thoughts. I commit to showing up, each and every day, and while that itself can feel constraining, it also comes with a certain freedom. It just needs to be a post. It doesn’t need to be perfect. I don’t have time to overthink it. I just have to get it done.

It is a 31 post in 31 days adventure. It pushes me to create regularly; crafting inspires blogging, and blogging inspires crafting. I’m looking forward to seeing how the month unfolds. I hope you’ll enjoy following along as I play.

I miss being a blog consumer too 💕

It’s very different interacting on Instagram, isn’t is? I miss sitting with my morning coffee and checking my Feedly to catch up on the days posts. Insta is too much of a scroll suck to do that!

I love reading your blog, it’s definitely a shame more people haven’t continued with theirs. 10 years ago mine was all about cardmaking, I wasn’t even sewing ! Oh how times have changed as I’ve moved through life and my creative journey. I look forward to reading more this month and will even try to get my blogs in order and some new posts published. Mx

I love blogging about my projects and things that are going on. It’s more permanent than Instagram and you explain so many more things! And from a business perspective it is a great way for people to find your business through google searches etc. 💜 bring back blogging I say!!

It’s such a different way of sharing content, I very much miss the long form posts explaining projects compared to insta “here’s a thing I made”. Here’s hoping for a blogging revival!
