Blogtober 2026

Blogtober 2026

“And how many ‘tobers is mama doing this year?” the rather perceptive, and project-collecting-obsessed, teen asked me, after I texted her a link to Zinetober on Pinterest.

The answer is, surprisingly, not all that many. I have a bit of an idea of what I want to do for 31 Minutes. Car has semi talked me into Inktober (and I’ve completed day one, albeit on Procreate). I really should sign up for Oceans to Outback again. we vaguely talked about an October write chain. I think Art Oasis is on the agenda, but I have time to decide on that one.

Aside from all the maybes, though, there’s the one non-negotiable – Blogtober. Almost every year since 2012, I have spent October writing and making and celebrating everything that comes with a bloggish, crafty, hobby-filled life.

This year, this past winter especially, my blogging output has been at my lowest since the early days of the pandemic. My crafting is likewise at a low point, quite possibly the lowest since I left high school and my hours that weren’t spent at work were spent at my desk, trying to keep up with a full time uni load on top of the full time work, and there wasn’t much time for fun. Over September, I started outlining some posts, and then I woke up this morning like “oh man it’s the first and I need to WRITE”.

And so here I am. Committing to thirty-one days of blogging like it’s 2014. Making all the things, partly so I have content, mostly to get me out of my rut and back into making. It could be the best thing to happen to my creative practice this year, or it could be a total flop by day three. I guess we’re about to find out. Happy Blogtober 2026 – let’s do this!
