{blogtober day 13} Supercar Sunday
“Are ye ready to rumble, mud blood?” is considered our standard greeting in the chat on the second Sunday of October. Wake up, heckle a bit, pull up the 7plus streaming site on my laptop – it’s a well worn routine for the Bathurst 1000. I’m a die-hard Holden supporter and Car, bless her little cotton socks, enjoys being wrong and supports Ford. I love her, but girl has some errors of judgement to work on (see also – shooting a Canon camera not a Nikon, and sewing with Bernini not Janome). It does make Bathurst weekend interesting though, and anyone reading our chats would be convinced we are mortal enemies rather than firm friends.
With two and a half hours to go, we’re warming up with a little smack talk and sharing our to-do lists for today – we aren’t complete monsters and like to sprinkle our heckling with encouragement and accountability. On my end, I have three main goals for today:

The Uni Quilt! It’s been languishing since I pushed it aside in favour of the 26 hour quilt, and I desperately want to make progress on it. Today I intend to do the final green seam, and then start piecing the final colour section. Bonus points if I can join that as well!
Sketchbook Revival! The clock is running down rapidly – six days left to access the classes and I’m not quite half way. I managed three classes yesterday, bringing me to the end of day seven, so I’m hoping to knock out another three or four today.

Something New! When on holidays, I picked up a new tatting shuttle – I lost my original or maybe decluttered it, and for $9 it wasn’t worth the hassle of going container diving to find it. Today I want to have a crack at learning tatting and see if I can get the hang of it.
As a bonus, we’re back on the wagon of monthly Sunday drives, thanks to our newly minted L plater. We all jump in the car; Mr Barefoot takes the supervisor role, I climb in the back with the kids, and off we go for a drive and find a village pub for lunch. I generally take a book or a project to keep me occupied. Today I think it will be my knitting; I cast on a new project on my way to Sydney last weekend and it’s quite a good travel pattern. A bit of lace for interest but a nice simple repeat that is easy enough to drop into a rhythm and knock out while hanging around and chatting. If I can get a couple more rows added to that while we are off adventuring, that would be fab.
Sundays are also, technically, Screen Free, though I will often settle for scroll free. A class video? Allowable. Chatting on messenger? Allowable. And today, watching the Great Race? Definitely allowable. Zoom zoom zoom…let’s go Team Chev!!
