{blogtober day 27} screen free shenanigans

Sundays, around here, are screen free days. Well, maybe scroll free? Phones can be used for photos, or Spotify, and possibly maybe the group chat might kick off early and roll on all day, but it’s about being intentional with our phone use, resetting device habits ready for a new week ahead. It’s also a day we prioritise spending time on activities that fill our cup and set us up well for Monday, rested and restored.

Today, that looked like clearing out three loads of washing (though tomorrow me doesn’t relish the thought of folding the baskets I’ve just brought in off the line). It looks like a little splurge at Bunnings for some christmas decorations, and a run into the nursery to fill a garden. It’s reading a book on my kindle and catching up on my card a day and finally getting some labels applied to my pantry containers that have only been on my desk for over a week. It’s a walk through our back forest, and a drink on the deck, and a slow cooked brisket dinner. It’s finishing an art piece and writing a companion flash fiction (look for that tomorrow). It’s watching night fall and picking up my shuttle and popping onto iView for today’s episode of Fisk.

It’s going to a busy week, and a restful day was exactly what I needed before it all kicks off. Monday for me begins at 5am this week, so it’s going to be an early night for me. Maybe a chapter of my book after I finish watching tv and get the kids off to bed. Or maybe I do the responsible thing and avoid the “one more chapter” trap. Sleepy tea and straight to bed, I think, and give tomorrow me the best shot at kicking Monday’s butt.
