EXPLORE chapter two
For a short month, February packed a huge punch. We farewelled our big boy for another year of uni in the big smoke, we helped my parents with jobs, we muddled our way through an approximation of a school routine, we saw Boy2 start uni. There were car troubles and bee troubles and power troubles. Mountain bike riding, trivia nights with the bi-monthly mums group, art openings with school friends, random breakfasts in town, and leading soup kitchen for the month. Pancake breakfasts and hot cross bun baking and project life and slice brining. Projects galore, for both myself and the kiddos, and a mad skedaddle to the end of the month and the local show, to get all our entries in.

{EXPLORE} in February
EXPLORE a focus area – my aim for the show was twelve entries; I ended up with handwork exhibits, and ten photos entered at the last minute. Let’s call this one a success!! I can’t wait to share a full show wrap in the next couple of days!
EXPLORE knowledge – I managed three chapters of my book; it’s quite enjoyable but it was a heck of a month and the reading mojo suffered. Carrying it forward to March.
EXPLORE afar – it was so lovely to spend time with my big boy in the big smoke, getting him moved in, and also getting some city errands done (namely, the German butcher, IKEA, and the Genius Bar for a new battery). We’ve been out to the MTB track three times over the month, though didn’t get paddleboarding, but that’s ok.
EXPLORE good habits – my morning basket is finally set up, and I’ve been tweaking my Todoist set up to make sure my phone is working for me not against me.
EXPLORE fun – I didn’t get to froyo, and we’ve only played a couple of games. I did, however, get out to an art exhibition which was amazing, and came 7th at trivia. We hit up the show on the weekend as well to round out our February fun.

{EXPLORE} in March
EXPLORE a focus area – watercolours will be my focus for March, inspired by an old post of my and the exhibition I went to last week. I’m planning on returning to my morning sketch practice, and have my reference photo for that printed, as well as working on bigger pieces (like returning to the 2012 photo that got me thinking about revisiting old projects), and I also intend to take at least one Skillshare class per week.
EXPLORE knowledge – this month I want to finish What The Trees See, as well as Deficit, both of which are in progress. I’m also aiming for four fiction books and two audiobooks
EXPLORE afar – the weekends ahead are looking busy already! I have two homeschool group day trips planned, which should be full of inspiration and goodness, and I am aiming for at least one MTB ride a week. A proper day trip would be nice but I won’t hold my breath!
EXPLORE good habits – daily walks, daily making, daily painting. And keeping on top of Project Life, and my slip in archive catch up. In March I would love to get three years caught up, but will settle for two.
EXPLORE fun – I’m going to repeat my goal of two board games a week. I also would love to have a “90s video store” movie night, where I’ll set up some dvds and a snack bar for the kiddos to pick their movie on movie night. In my mind it will be epic, in reality, the teens will likely think it’s cringe. I’m going to enjoy the process anyway.
February was a month of Big Feelings and Big Happenings and your internet friend was just barely crawling to the finish line. I must confess I am glad for a new month and a new start. Happy March, friends, what’s on your agenda this month?
