FLOURISH 2025 :: quarter two update

At the start of the year, inspired by a friend, I wrote out a list of twenty five things I wanted to achieve this year. With half the year behind us, it’s time for another check in to see how I am progressing, and what I need to change.

1. Walk at least 7km a week – continues to be a fail. My original plan was a short walk every morning, but maybe I need to shift to a long walk on the weekend. Let’s aim for a catch up this quarter

2. Close my watch rings every day – where even is my watch? I do not know…I’m going to call this one a bust.

3. Take a class in something new – I just missed out on an oil painting class, as it overlapped with my soup kitchen committments. I’m hoping it will run again soon so I can tick this one off my list.

4. Enter 5+ things in the show done! Only just scraped through, but something is better than nothing.

5. Empty both WIP boxes – I ticked off one of the items in my “current projects”, and another I’m planning on pulling out this week (to frog, but still. It’s one less item in there!)

6. Finally sort the container – I’m starting to make progress, and planning on parking the trailer out the front this week so I can start turfing stuff and prepping for a tip run.

7. Find a new Sydney “base”/comfort zone we loved Zetland when we moved the boy to uni, so that’s likely to be where we’ll park ourselves from now on! We’ve also found a couple of great spots in Randwick (the husband has just been down, and I’m down in a couple of weeks), and a new favourite brekkie spot, so this one is definitely done.

8. Cunnamulla with friends – bumping to next year, though I did go with the family! And we’re still hoping for a girls weekend closer to home before the year is out.

9. Kingfisher Bay for a week – still to be scheduled; maybe in the spring?

10. Sell the camper – in progress, final assessment this weekend and have a couple of friends interested

11. Sort the vineyard – first round of fence repairs and tie ups done. Fencing improvements starting this month, and this week’s job is to test the watering system.

12. Brine olives successfully – bottled and soaking, hopefully ready for testing in the next month or two

13. Make jam/preserves at least three times – the blackberries for jam got pinched by the teen, but I did manage to freeze some, and I also made, stored + used some of our glut of tomatoes in a roast tomato passata, so maybe 50% complete? We’re hoping to net our trees early enough to save fruit from the birds so this will now be a spring item.

14. Do one thing that scares the crap out of me – who even knows? I’m sure something will present itself!

15. Finish my novel – zero progress. I did get a kick from the support crew over the weekend, so aiming to start picking away at it in August.

16. Read 100 books – I am so far behind at 34 read so far.

17. Finish one thing a month – journal in January, quilt in February, inchie challenge in March, a ball of drop spun yarn in April, the ottoman in May, a pilates bag in June, woven table runner in July. ON TRACK

18. Plant & nurture a flower garden – we just need to install the watering systems, maybe the weekend after next?

19. Try to get 200 YT subs – progress! I started at 134, was at 176 last update, and am currently at 193. Growth has slowed due to a hiatus over winter, but I’m back into it now and hoping to hit 200 soon

20. Visit somewhere new – I went to Crescent Head for the first time with my high school friends, so I’m going to call this one done.

21. Use something from every craft box at least once – Top shelf I used habby, beading and needlework last quarter, and paper crafts this quarter, leaving only elastics/findings and printmaking to go. Middle shelf I’d used fibre, and cricut, yarn tools, current journals, and stencils last update, and have used specialty paper, scrapbook paper, and cardstock this quarter – shelf done! From under my desk, I’ve used something for each little plastic drawer, both the fabric drawers, and the yarn basket. I’ve also used some latch hook wool from the general crafts box! So two boxes left, one of which I’ll use this week. This one is basically a done deal.

22. Bake every week – Miss14 continues to love baking so this one isn’t really getting much attention

23. Take one edX course a quarter – not a single one complete! I will have to hustle!

24. Grow my stock photo portfolio by 10 photos a month – failed this one so far! I’m not giving up yet though, and plan to actively schedule time in my diary to sit down and sort photos to submit.

25. Create at least one digital product a month – also a fail, and I will try and catch up.

Overall, not a huge amount of progress this quarter, so hopefully I can regain my mojo and hit some major milestones over quarter three!
