long weekend lazies :: blogtober day 5

I had so many big plans for the long weekend. But that famous road is paved with good intentions, and all those plans are exactly where I left them on Friday.

We were on the road rather early Saturday to collect the boy and his mates from scout camp, and clearly a week isn’t long enough to wear them out, because those boys yapped alllll the way home. By the time we got home, the bags unpacked and in the wash, and the boy child scrubbed and clean, we were all ready for a quiet afternoon. He settled in with his new birthday lego, Butterfly was merrily sewing away on my machine, and I settled in with my knitting and a spot of Alias.

Sunday was much more a jobs day. We cleared and cleaned the decks, ready for oiling. We re-screened the back doors. I did thirty million loads of washing. I wandered into the craft room a few times, but nothing really struck my fancy. About the only thing I did manage to do was repair our wedding photo album. An old-school post-bound album, it had come apart in storage, and had been floating around my desk since the bushfire a couple of weeks ago, when it came out of the container and onto the pile of “stuff to grab on the way out the door”.

Monday was deck oiling day, so I was on Bunnings-run-duty, plus of course some more knitting and Alias, and working on a solution for the join-as-I-go blocks that don’t always join at the point of cast on. I think I’ve worked it out and just need to tweak it a bit.

And then I blinked, and the weekend was gone and I had done almost nothing I had wanted too. It was good to tick some jobs off, so I won’t call it a total loss. I was also happy to make some decent progress on the JAYG blanket which has been languishing for far too long. But that’s ok. Something is better than nothing. Tomorrow is a new start, and now I’m rested and ready to get stuck in!
