on the trolley :: March

February was a BIG month. Last minute crafting, parties (so many parties), travel, the last of the summer harvest, and the show. I had hoped March would be calmer but it’s really shaping up to be as busy as the last eight months when I’ve kept saying “next month will be calmer”! My big goals for March are keeping with my 100 Days project, and working in my journaling bible every day. There’s a few other bits on my Five Flourish Focuses this month, but those are my big two. And of course – counting down to uni holidays and my boy being home!

I am loving these little end of month collages and creating a colour story of the month that was. It will be interesting to see them as a collection come the end of the year. Looking forward, I want to tick off two Making Zen classes, and start my morning walks, though with the days getting shorter and the end of daylight savings still three weeks away, I will confess it’s more a theoretical goal at the minute! I always love the fresh start that comes with the beginning of the month and my rhythm of resetting. The craft room has been cleaned, the trolley has had a reset, and I’m ready to make all the things!

In the trolley for March:

TOP// I still have my spindle, sock yarn, old jeans (since up cycled), fabric for ottoman cover (also started since reset), shuttle tatting, and on top of my tray is my bible for Lent journaling.

MIDDLE// Week in the life photos have been rearranged and put down on this shelf. There’s still my film camera, snake socks to finish, and my usual books – commonplace, writing, collage journal, sketchbook, workbook, iPad & kindle – plus two novels that are my priority this month (The Golden Thread, and Elizabeth & Elizabeth). I also finally started those socks with my Christmas yarn, so there is a project bag with those on this shelf as well

BOTTOM// The big change! My quiltmas quilt has been shuffled off to a more hidden project purgatory, and the doona cover I want to fix has gone with it. In its stead, my bottom shelf has become a thread holder. I’ve been warping up a new weaving project, and instead of making a thread stand, I got creative with some scrap dowel and a couple of rubber bands! Works like a charm. This shelf also currently holds my bobbin winder and boat shuttle so I can get the bobbins wound up before packing away my reels of yarn.

I’ve made good progress already this month on the projects on my trolley, and with a few things making a repeat appearance, my additional goal this month, I’ve decided, will be make sure I touch everything at least once, or let it go. Everything on there represents a part of what I want my life to look like, ways to fill my cup and grow myself creatively. If I leave them on the trolley and pretend they are important to me, they are not helping me FLOURISH; that only comes from the doing. So it’s crunch time. Do the work, make the things, open the books, read the words.

Hello March, you’re not going to make life easy on me, but as the old saying goes, if you want a project done, give it to a busy crafter. Or something like that. Lists made, trolley organised, projects ready for action. Let’s do this!
