out and about
It was 5:30am, with just the first colours of dawn staining the horizon, when we woke the children yesterday. While normal people enjoyed their Sunday sleep in, we were guzzling coffee and pouring half asleep teens into the car and headed for the bus stop. Bear was heading back to uni for term three, after a week or so of home-holidays, and man, did we pack in a lot of holidaying!

We enjoyed a weekend in Yamba – beach walks and late brekkies and delicious dinners and crazy kids insisting the pool wasn’t really THAT cold. We had a good old country pub Parmi dinner, as requested by the big boy. Beetle and I took a road trip with my mum, to visit my nan, and topped it off with a bakery lunch, and a wee explore of the shops. For a small town, it punches well above its weight, and I picked up a circular knitting needle at the fabric shop, and started my Christmas shopping at the book & gift shop tucked in the back of a cafe. When I got home, I sent my offsider a photo of the hand-me-down books I scored from Nan, and told her I had sent her a reel of a show we should watch, and she told me I had the books it was based on. I went to dinner and the theatre with friends. I started the books for the show, and polished off all three over the course of the weekend. I baked a cake and we celebrated Bear’s upcoming TWENTIETH birthday. 20. He was a tiny lad of just twenty months when I started this blog, and now he is twenty years. Crazy stuff. Excellent cake though. After dropping off the boy, we came home, loaded up the ute, and headed off for a morning of MTB.
It has been a week of allll the fun things, and when I look back on the week that was, I’m not surprised I tumbled into bed a touch after 8:30 last night, and was asleep approximately 65 seconds later.
Today, we lock in. There’s one week left in the term and we’re going to knock a heap of stuff off the list. I have an art journal page to finish, and a video to edit for homeschool group. I would love to make progress on my photo album projects, but they might have to wait for the holidays. Hopefully a bit of knitting at the school table will scratch the itch. There’s a million house admin jobs on my list. Spring cleaning can’t be ignored much longer, but also I want to start some new lace. The Monday mojo is low for adulting and high for making, so let’s see if I can hurry through my jobs and buy myself some free time…let’s do this!
