…self isolation stockpiling…
“Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light,” said Dumbledore (calmly). In these dark times, I’ve been following the light all the way to craft shop panic buying…because I totally wouldn’t hit up Spotlight and my fave indie places at the coast in normal times. Nope. Not me. This is 3000% due to the current pandemic and not any deficiency in self control.
Stop number one was Spotlight, which I was sure to hit early on in the day to ensure I could avoid the fellow stockpilers, and observe ideal social distancing measures. Mr Barefoot tells me the acceptable social distance from Spotlight is “outside the door”, but hey, he wasn’t there to stop me. I was technically in search of just three colours of roving for a school project (I swear it was for school!), and then, well, it was all so pretty and there’s a pandemic don’t you know and we might get an idea and not have access to spotlight and next minute…

I may or may not have accidentally also bought a four pack of block printing ink. But, in my defence, I DID leave the screenprinting kit I was looking at behind.
Then, of course, on the way home through Bellingen, I couldn’t help but stop at my favourite little craft/toy/Waldorf shop. My “just have a look” resolution was broken before I even got through the door with the “half price or less” bucket of seedling kits, including a very cute bowtie kit for $5. With two bow tie loving boys, how could I go past a bargain like that? Then I tripped over the gorgeous green yarn and once that put itself in my basket, well, it was a free for all…

Not a bad haul for “just looking and maybe one piece of white felt”. I will throw Mr13 under the bus for the game at least…and my vindication came in the form of flogging him resoundly in our first game. Sadly, the gorgeous op shop I was relying on for a piece of a swap parcel was closed, so overall I could claim I was well behaved and only visited half the shops I wanted to?
We are now home from all our homeschool events, and tucked up safely at home ready to craft our fingers off. Friday afternoon is shaping up nicely with all our chores and school work done, the sun shining, and a book needing finishing. All our weekend events have been cancelled so I’m going to catch up also on an online art class. Crafty weekends are the best weekends. Mess making incoming in 3, 2, 1…
