sunday snippets

hello January! Real life has slowly been crawling back in the last couple of weeks, and tomorrow I dive head first back into school planning and prep, ready for our first lessons after the long weekend. The holidays have been full of goodness – there’s been day trips to the river for a float and the ranges for some waterfalls. There’s been picky dinners and big brunches and board games and video games. So many boxes, so many trips to the return&earn depot, so many late starts and slow mornings, and a gentle return to rhythm. Gentle, that is, if two meetings, two bbqs, and multiple phone calls counts?

LIFE RIGHT NOW

Reading// Big Time by Jordan Prosser, found on IndyReads and just started this morning
Watching// Dear Life on Stan and sobbing my way through each episode.
Listening// The Lucky Sisters on Audible, chosen simply because it’s voiced by two of my favourite Aussie actors.
Playing// all the games! Ticket To Ride (Germany edition) is currently in high rotation with the holidays allowing plenty of time for game play
Making// a quilt for my neice
Planning// my next holiday photo album after finishing one this morning

FUN LINKS I’VE LOVED THIS MONTH

I’m enjoying the Scattering Seeds newsletter, by Elise Joy who I’ve followed for years as a craft blogger
the oddments socks are so cute and great for using up scrap yarn
I was thrilled to be the winner of the Daffodil Road Yarn giveaway – how cute is the inspo board?
We made this charred chicken over the holidays and it was delicious! (I served ours with charred corn, brown rice, and some yummy fresh sourdough baked by Bear)
This essay on unfinished projects really resonated with me
Pip’s new Craft Film Club looks like a stack of fun, though I’m struggling to find this month’s movie anywhere!

You’re a busy lady! Reading between the lines, I think you homeschool your children, right? Or you’re a school teacher? That’s a huge responsibility. I appreciate your “Life Right Now,” and looked up the books you’re currently reading/listening to. Disappointingly, they’re not available to me through my two public library apps, perhaps because the authors aren’t American? In any case, you’re staying on-the-go, and that’s how I’m feeling these days too. January is always a little more scheduled, isn’t it?

Yes I homeschool my two younger children; my eldest is now living away at uni, and my second will start online uni this year. I’m looking forward to a slightly slower pace this year with only the two of them!

I do hope at some point the books are available to you, they are indeed both Aussie authors so it’s a shame they haven’t yet gotten international distribution deals. I’m quite enjoying both (very different) stories!
