unboxing the Artisan Bakery Club
It was the usual kind of insta giveaway – like, share, tag, etc etc, you know the drill. I’ve entered a million of them over the far-too-many-years I’ve been on the ‘gram. I don’t enter all that I get tagged in (which is A LOT), just the ones where I can actually see myself using whatever the prize is. That’s still plenty of giveaways entered, though. The last time I actually won one? All the way back in 2013, when I won a copy of Mr Darcy the Dancing Duck during it’s release week.
Until now.
I’ve been following Daffodil Road for quite some time, and have been drooling over Sara’s amazing Jane Austen inspired series (and also the musical advent). Her yarns are such beautiful colours and combos, I can never quite narrow it down to my favourites. In January, she announced the launch of her quarterly subscription box for this year – The Artisan Bakery Yarn Club. When she also then announced a giveaway, I was tagging like a mad woman, expecting it to be like every other giveaway. Tag, like, share, forget. Except I didn’t get to the forget stage, because this time, I WON. I was beyond excited and counted the days until release… THEN I hit the forget stage.
I was actually at the post office to collect my travelling journal, returning from its holiday at Car’s house, ready for our March journaling. When I pulled three parcel cards from the PO Box, I was a bit bamboozled. The journal from Car, textbook for Boy2, and…what else? The boxes came to the counter, one quite large. “What have I ordered now?” I mused out loud, giving the post office lady a bit of a giggle – she’s new, and unfamiliar with my package-goblin self. I hadn’t ordered anything, it was my yarn box arriving, and holy guacamole was it epic.

Look at those gorgeous yarns!! I’m thinking I might knit myself an ombre jumper, if I can settle on a pattern (current options include the Ilha, the Bowmont, and the Duileach). They are so so pretty. And those bikkies! Almost too pretty to eat (ALMOST, I do not have an entire well of self control at my disposal. They were as tasty as they were beautiful). An adorable stitch marker, a pile of cute stickers, a clutch of stationery – half of which my teen daughter pinched as soon as she saw it. I have hidden the tea bags and the mini highlighter from her, because they will be sure to wander as well, and the cute tea themed stickers.
The whole thing was packaged up so beautifully, it really was a treat to open and savour. And now I have a new project to plan! Win win! Want to see me unwrap it in real time?
Today, we are knee-deep in Mandating through a Monday. I’m recovering from an epic stack at the MTB park yesterday. The kiddos are helping cover my chores. Boy2 is up to his elbows in chemistry revision, gearing up for his first uni assessment; a quiz due by midnight tonight. I’m planning some easter fun for the smaller two, and some VEDA vlog fun for myself. My hands are too sore to do anything crafty that requires grip, so I might just wander in and out of the craft room complaining about how exercise is bad for your health. On the upside, it also means I can’t deal with the cleaning of said craft room. There’s always a silver lining…happy Monday friends! What are you making this week?
