WOYWW

Does a What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday post count if you are working but not on a desk? This week has seen me head back to Sydney – for those counting along at home, that’s my third trip in two months. As always, I over packed. As always, I managed to touch most projects at least once. At home, I am a master procrastinator. On a trip? I’m SuperCrafter.

This time, I had stacks of downtime where I could please myself what I did. After exploring the city a little, I headed back to the motel, pulled up a true crime doco on Prime Video* (as one does) and got to work. I made good progress on my cross stitch, knitted a row on my shawl, and managed to write a bit for my current fiction work. I built a mood board for my December Daily and read a chapter of my book, and then I headed out to spend a couple of hours in the city with the kiddo between events. Day two was more of the same, but this time working al fresco. I started designing papers in the quadrangle, and drafting a Substack as I sat outside the labs the boy was touring.

The change of scenery always boosts my mojo, which I think is a lesson I need to apply in those times I am feeling flat, or in a rut. if it’s not working where I am, change where I work (though maybe the real lesson is – it’s easier to get stuff done when there isn’t housework to do and children to raise and educate!)

Another change of scenery as we head for home, and my to-do list when I get there is bulging. There’s a week or so until the advent craftapalooza kicks off, and I’m excited to get stuck into some prep work. After few days away, the unfunny to-do list is also bulging – washing of travel clothes and stay-at-nanny-and-poppys-clothes, restocking the fridge we let run down while we were away, catching up on school work as we race towards the end of the year. First though, I think a coffee and a brain dump is in order to get all those to-dos out of my head, onto paper, and in some kind of order. Two big days to finish the week strong. Let’s do this!

You made good use of your time away! Hope the craftiness all went well. Give my love to Sydney, adored the place when we visited many years ago now.

Thanks for stopping by! It was a fun trip in Sydney; as a country girl it’s always a bit of a culture shock, but one I’ll need to get used to when Mr18 moves there next year for uni!

Glad you managed some crafting while you’re away. It all counts, whether at a desk, on the floor or on your lap!
      Have a good week, hugs

Looks like a change of scenery always does the trick for you Rachel. Love the eclectic mix of projects you took with you. A desk is wherever you craft in my book whether at home or away. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah

Brain Dumps are great, I do it every day, then my head is not littered with all the millions of thoughts! Too many other things to do at home (at least this is what I have found), which is probably why you do more crafting on holiday! Have a wonderful week, Lindart #14

Hi Rachel, a desk can be anything and the important thing is to join in with the group and let us have a nosy at what you’re up to. Getting away can be so relaxing and it obviously works for you with none of those home jobs to distract you. Wishing you a very happy belated woyww. Hugs Angela x11x

I agree a change of scenery can be just the boost you need sometimes to blow the cobwebs away and it sounds like you got quite a lot done and some crafting too! Enjoy your weekend – Michelle x #16

Oh my a tad behind this week, what’s new! Been contending with a bad back this week, horrendous in the mornings tapering off during the day then the textile retreat starting at 4pm each day has taken over… Anyway better late than never…
Nice to see someone else taking part in Making Zen and great to plan to do it with your friend next year. Great that you take crafty projects on your trips and actually do some.

Oh dear! Bad backs are so exhausting, it’s just a constant pain every time you move. I hope it is kinder to you soon! Enjoy the Making Zen classes, it’s fabulous to see your progress. Thanks for stopping by!

I feel like my life has been one big suitcase changeover the last couple of months!! But it’s been a good lesson in finding time by making time. Thanks for stopping by!
