…it’s painting, it’s pouring…
It’s always handy when challenges overlap. In my 202020 list, I have “try four new crafts”. Thanks to Pinterest and the Instagram explore tab, we also added “paint pouring” to our list of 365 creative adventures. I may or may not have had a starter kit fall into my basket a few weeks back at the cheap shop, and then when at a larger Bunnings than our little town has, I may or may not have bought some wooden coasters to use as a pouring substrate…
Last week, while the kids were making advent calendars, I set myself up beside them on the floor, and got busy. The first coaster (top left) I absolutely loved…the subsequent ones less so. It was a mix of not quite enough paint in the pot, and being too lazy to clean the pot between pours, leading to some unintentional mixing and poor layering. Then of course, I tried to fix them, and made the problem even worse!)

I think I will actually repour those three…and possibly hit up the cheap shop for some red and white pouring paint too, to make myself some Christmas coasters! How cute would that be? I’m planning on heading downtown anyway today, to collect groceries and possibly fall into the fabric store to check out our options for a tree skit and some bonbons, so if I kind of sort of maybe find myself next to the paint display, well… I can’t entirely be held responsible. And really, if I make it with the kids, it counts under the school budget and not my craft budget, I’m pretty sure that’s how it works…
