…project life DIY cards…

Oh, my poor neglected Project Life albums… I started with a bang in 2015, but by mid year, I wasn’t loving my core kit, and the Studio Calico subscription I has was getting thinner, and more seasonal (and thus, being on the opposite end of the world to America, less useful. It doesn’t snow here, especially in February, and what’s the obsession with pumpkin spice everything?). Add in the crashing exchange rate, and once I paid for my kit and my bundled add-ons, I was spending north of $100 a month. On PAPER. Paper and stickers and cards that half of them I couldn’t even use. So I cancelled that subscription because I’m a tightwad and $100 a month is decent chunk out of my craft budget. BUT. That left me in a bit of a pickle, since I was well and truly sick of the core kit experience.

So I ignored my album for a bit, and then played with some stash stuff for a bit, and ignored my album some more. Then during a random wander through Spotlight on holidays, I stumbled over a 6×6 paper pad, of Paige Evan’s Fancy Free papers and I was smitten! I was also super inspired…how hard could it be to make the cards I wanted? I grabbed the pad, some kraft paper and tags, and a pack of doilies, and I was off and racing, with my own “kit” of cards to work with. I ended up adding a digital label sheet, so I could print labels to add, and my dies came in handy to cut extra elements.

Of course, it’s a bit more work than just grabbed some premade cards, so I try to make them in batches. On the weekend, I spent half an hour making another 15 cards for my collection, and I decided to film a timelapse as I worked, to share my crafty process. I hope you enjoy this sneak peek behind the scenes of my craft room!
