on the cards :: October

I kind of cant believe I’m sharing my third last update of my card a day project. With ten months now complete, it has helped reset my belief in what I can achieve when it comes to daily projects, and I’m already looking ahead to what I want to replace it with in 2025. It won’t be this same project; it’s been fun but I’m also looking forward to drawing a line under it and experimenting with something new. I am also really looking forward to the entire project being finished and being able to flip through my entire year, as viewed through the lens of 3×4″ a day.

It’s a three page month, this month. Admittedly, the top two rows of page one are September, but I have included them once again, because I feel like the first four cards of October are an important part of this month’s story.

October saw the end of birthday season, and the end of my time as a haver-of-wisdom-teeth. I included my hospital bracelets, and an almost blank card from recovery day. Film wrappings, quilt offcuts, a quick sketch from my overnight trip to Sydney. Cricut waste, cat interlopers, failed creative play (more than once!), desk scraps and photos of life, chocolate wrappers and collage play just because. It was a busy, engaging, motivating, tiring month, and I am looking forward to a more restful November. There were a lot of personal moments this month – birthdays, licenses, those hospital bracelets with plenty of identifying information, so there are slightly more obscured photos than usual.

Two months, sixty one days, to go, plus the three still to complete for October on the next page). Sixty four chances to craft up a magic snippet of my day from the detritus of mundane life. I’m excited to see what the next five pages bring.
