…custom stockings…

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that when a friend asks “who does X in town?” and I am a person who does X for funsies, that the only possible answer is “meeeeeee”. Like hand-embroidering names on stockings? Yeah, I can totally do that.

One of my fellow homeschool mamas had two stockings she wanted names put on. It seemed easy enough, so I figured, why not? Most of my Christmas crafting is up to date, so while in town yesterday, I dropped by and picked them up.

I should’ve been prepping props for our playgroup Christmas party, so of course I did the sensible thing of diving straight into the stockings. I went with a simple hand drawn running writing style, and stitched them in two strands of embroidery floss. They didn’t come out too badly, if I do say so myself, and my friend was thrilled with the end result. I always get so anxious doing stuff for other people, so it’s reassuring when they are happy with the end result.

Downhill run to Christmas today, and I am wildly swinging between “totally under control” and “oh my gosh I will never get everything done”. I’ve been procrastination-cleaning, clearing out the school shelves and book cases. The end of year clutter hasn’t helped the head space, so with that cleared out, and slowly cleaning away the piles of project crud that’s taken up residence in the living room, I am starting to feel more in control. Time for a coffee and a brain dump list writing session, I think. Two days to go. Totally doable. I think.
