“Do you think your mum could crochet me a green dinosaur for my birthday?” Bear’s bestie sent through a request. “Sure,” he says, before passing on the message as “you can make a crochet dinosaur can’t you? I said you would.”

“I can do that,” I said, “going to take it on our road trip for photos with actual dinosaurs first though.”

I went through a couple of plans, before settling on this sweet little amigurumi triceratops. Because I am not capable of starting a project with a reasonable lead time, I was only working with stash yarn, and I may or may not have made a bit of an error of judgement when choosing the last of my Cypress yarn. To survive yarn chicken, I ended up just doing a single layer for the frill. I have tried previously to get tiny safety eyes locally, but haven’t been able to get them as small as I needed, so I ended up just using two little black beads from my stash, and they actually turned out better than I think the safety eyes would have.

The hardest part? Keeping all that cream yarn clean throughout the trip! Especially at Winton where these photos were taken, and she was tucked up in my backpack as we toured the labs and galleries. It was worth it though – look how happy she is to be riding Banjo!

I think that’s just about the last of our holiday adventures and projects I had left to blog. In the 6 weeks since we’ve returned, we’ve had a week of the mister away caring for family, a week at the coast for birthdays, four days at State Rally for scouts, and two weeks of Influenza. To say I’m itching for some normalcy is an understatement. Today I’m in catch up mode and birthday planning mode – birthday season kicks off next week! So much for that normalcy I was hoping for… Spring is (almost) here, the doors are thrown wide open for the fresh air, and there’s motivation galore for a crazy month to come. First though, maybe a cuppa and a start on the thirty million lists I need to keep everything under control.

Happy Wednesday friends! What’s on your agenda for today?
