WIP Wednesday:: mandala progress
Slowly, I’ve been making progross on the current round of my mandala blanket. Each side is sitting at around 200 stitches, which is a decent stretch, but then the current section is also colour work, where I’m swapping yarn every three stitches. Even working out a two handed method, it’s hard to get a rhythm going. Finally though, this week, I was starting to get somewhere, and by last night, as I caught up on the last couple of episodes of The Newsreader, I was chuffed to be headed towards the third corner and final side.

WAS, being the operative word in that sentence. I was merrily crocheting away, chatting to my friends, when disaster struck…twice.

I managed to miss half a V in the row before (disaster one) which means I would need to frog – but when I tried to work out where the rest of the row had gone wrong…it hadn’t. The corner matches up neatly in pattern (disaster two).
Somewhere, something has gone terribly wrong.
Today’s job is to go through and count all the stitches in between the V’s on this row, and all the trebles in the row below the V, and try and track down the problem. Then I need to frog, rewind the yarn, start all over again. It hurts, when I was so close to the end of this round, and just one more round of colour work to go, to have to start all over again. Frogging and reworking is painful enough at the best of times, let alone in a section I’ve very much not been enjoying.
I’m trying to wrap up our current block of school work so we can have a break next week, with the big boy due home from uni on Saturday night for three whole weeks. There’s groceries to be ordered and floors to be mopped and washing to be folded. Beetle has managed to misplace Giraffy so I think there’s a hunt planned to find him before he misses a third bed time. The heel of my sock is ready to turn and Messy May is tickling the mojo, and now I have to count thirty million crochet stitches as well? Ugh.
Maybe just one more coffee before I get started?
